Sussex Foodie News, November 2011 | |
Dear Sussex Foodies,
It's lovely to have the chance to cosy up in front of a fire again with the change of the seasons and to enjoy hearty pies, pasties and pumpkin or root vegetable soups. We had a delightful roast chestnut evening the other night during a cold spell and also tried out stewing some of our orchard's conference pears in red wine and Cassis and they were superb with blue cheese! This is just the start of winter and I can't help finding consolation in all the lovely, more hearty food we can enjoy in this season.

Royal Pavilion Ice Rink and Feast Opens
Robin Cousins will officially launch the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink and Feast restaurant & bar, which opens to the public on November 12th to January 22nd, with tickets on sale from www.ticketmaster.co.uk
And we can offer you the chance to win a free family ticket for four, along with lunch or afternoon tea - all you have to do is 'like' the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pavilionicerink
Meantime, the rink's Feast Restaurant & Bar' sounds better and better the more we hear about it! Sunday Feasts will offer amazing roasts and feast platters, including whole roast suckling pig for meat lovers and vegetarian feast platters for veggies. Special Regency-style cocktails, including 'shrubs' served in teapots and teacups, flavoured with - wait for it - shrubs!! As well as special hot toddies and cups, a Champagne & oyster bar, cheese fondues, seafood platters and Christmas party options. It's a pop up restaurant and bar, so let's support it - apparently you can just drop in for drinks after work, stop by for lunch or even an all day breakfast, or book and plan a proper Christmas party. It's only here till 22nd January, so get your skates on and make the most of it! Actually - you don't have to skate to go there! www.feastbrighton.co.uk

Don't miss out on the Sussex foodie event of the year!
The county's number one annual foodie event is for the first time being created by Fred Tobin, the award-winning chef at the Amex Stadium, who was formerly personal chef to the Prime Minister, ran the kitchens at Harrods and the Dorchester and has won Rosettes for his superb cooking. He has created a mouth watering seven-course awards banquet entirely using top Sussex ingredients, including Southdown Lamb - which is only fitting as this year the South Downs National Park has come on board to support the awards.
Tickets are now on sale for this superb black tie night - in the Bupa Lounge of the Amex Stadium - with a Sussex bubbly reception, followed by the banquet, entertainment and a lively awards ceremony celebrating the best local food and drink producers and outlets, hosted by Danny Pike of BBC Sussex. Tickets cost 75, with tables of ten discounted to 650 (plus VAT). We hope you will join us for this fantastic event. Contact sandra@naturalpr.biz or see www.sussexfoodawards.biz
