The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!
Book by Rachel Sheinkin
Music and Lyrics by William Finn
Directed by Elio Gutierrez-Montoya
Musical Direction by Kale Coppin & Connie Mockenhaupt
Choreography by Jacob Gutierrez-Montoya

"Turns out The 25 th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin playing weekends through July 15 at Sutter Street Theatre is a winning evening of entertainment. What makes this show delightful is the amazing cast playing six quirky adolescent competitors and three quirky grownups who run the event—or try to. Director Elio Gutierrez-Montoya, who has previously directed Evil Dead, The Musical at Sutter Street, has turned his cast, many drama students at Cal State Sacramento, into a delightful ensemble of characters. So ..., a middle school spelling bee, when turned into a free-wheeling musical by an excellent director and an outstanding cast, can definitely be a great evening of theater."
Gerald Camp - Folsom Telegraph

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.

This show has a rating of PG-13.

Pet owners, Roger and Anita, live happily in London with their Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. Everything is quiet until Anita’s former classmate, the monstrous Cruella De Vil, plots to steal the puppies for her new fur coat. The Dalmatians rally all the dogs of London for a daring rescue of the puppies from Cruella and her bumbling henchmen.

Based on the classic animated film,  Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS  is a fur-raising adventure featuring Cruella De Vil, Disney’s most outrageous villain, and 101 of the most adorable heroes to set their paws onstage. With a high-spirited score and lovable characters, this stage adaptation is certain to charm and delight all audiences.
