Volunteer Appreciation Day
April 23rd
Our Volunteers are the Backbone of our School

On  Saturday, April 23rd , we want to show our appreciation to all of our parent, student and faculty volunteers. If you have already or are planning to volunteer this year, you can drop by the front reception for a small treat and to collect your returned volunteer fee cheques.  Sign up for Viva Volunteering and/or hand in those volunteer hour forms and we will get your cheque back to you on April 23rd. Click here to download your volunteer hour log.

We are fortunate to be able to count on so many of you and your help and support throughout the year. We truly wouldn't function at all without you!

You can always contact me directly for any information regarding volunteering at [email protected].

Viva Suzuki
growing together, through music

Viva Suzuki student fundraising

Each family is asked to collect a minimum  of 50$ in pledges.
The more pledges you raise, the more chances you have at prizes!

Bring in your pledge sheets by April 30, 12:15pm. Draw takes place April 30, 12:30pm!

Students, once again we've asked for your help to make our annual end-of-year fund raising concert,  Viva Suzuki, a success. There are so many ways to gather pledges from your family and friends. We encourage you to ask them to sponsor your performance at the concert or better yet, offer them a private performance in exchange for a pledge! Some students like to go busking or collect pledges door-to-door, while some will just keep it to their grandparents' houses on the weekend.  You can be as creative as you like.
Let us know what creative ideas you come up with and we will post them in one of our weekly school emails.

Your music and your enthusiasm will bring smiles to everyone!

Remember that however you contribute, you are not just helping your school but you're also helping kids just like you at our sister school in Haiti, Vision Nouvelle.

Thanks to all of you who are already out there filling in your pledge forms.  Pledge forms and information brochures can be downloaded here:

Viva Suzuki 2016
Sponsors Needed!
We need your help to make our annual end-of-year concert,  Viva Suzuki, a success! This concert raises funds to support our school, our faculty-training fund, as well as providing much-needed support for our sister-school, Vision-Nouvelle, in Haiti. You can contribute as a sponsor in several ways:
  1. Advertising: Do you or someone you know own your own business? Want to promote your company or services? If not, do you want to help us contact potential sponsors? We sell ads here in our SuzNews which goes out to 450+ subscribers, as well as in our Viva Suzuki concert program. See our attached Corporate Sponsorship Package for our corporate rates.
  2. Donate prizes or free services for a student fundraising incentive draw on April 30th. Students who meet our fundraising challenge will be entered into a draw for prizes - your contribution could be part of the prizes for this incentive draw.
Do any of these options speak to you? If so, please contact Susan at  [email protected]
Thanks for taking time to consider how you can help a great cause!!!

"A Recipe for Citizenship" : Creating Beautiful Hearts, Engaging in Community"
-Shin'ichi Suzuki

Greetings Suzuki Parents!
I hope this letter finds you well and that you have had a great year of music-making thus far! In going through the Parents as Partners Online video blogs, (ask your studio teacher for more details!), I came across a segment by a Michigan Suzuki Teacher and Parent, Katie Bast. Katie entitled her talk A Recipe for Citizenship: Key Ingredients for Teaching Students to Be Good Citizens.
As Dr. Suzuki spoke of teaching children to create "beautiful tone [to develop a] beautiful heart", creating good citizens is at the core of our Suzuki Pedagogy. Here are the "ingredients" that Katie included:
