It's the
16th Annual
City of the Hills Art & Music Festival!

There is so much entertainment in the area this weekend.

There's the down home fun of the Otsego County Fair.
There's music, dance, theater, and art. There are flea markets and festivals.

But, I hope you'll forgive me if I focus on one of my favorite events, taking place on Oneonta's Main Street this Saturday.

The City of the Hills Art & Music Festival is Oneonta at its finest.

The music, the arts, crafts, vendors, and family activities; the sidewalk sales and the Farmers' Market...

It's a glorious day downtown.
Hope to see you there!

Either way, we'll see you next Thursday.

Matt Nakoa
Matt Nakoa is an internationally touring singer/songwriter, recently appearing at The White House and regularly with folk icon Tom Rush. Growing up on a small goat farm in rural NY State, Matt discovered music as a means of teenage escape and trained to be a concert pianist. Matt was ultimately accepted as a vocalist to Berklee College of Music where he studied alongside soon-to-be Grammy winners St. Vincent and Esperanza Spalding among others. After school, Matt landed in NYC's vibrant piano bar scene. There he quickly became a star performer at Manhattan's famous Brandy's Piano Bar, with lines waiting outside the door each Saturday night.

The Barber of Seville
Rossini's comic bel canto masterpiece The Barber of Seville will be presented in a production directed by Francesca Zambello and conducted by Glimmerglass Festival Music Director Joseph Colaneri. With its famed overture that inspired the appropriately named cartoon "Rabbit of Seville" from Looney Tunes, the opera tells the story of Count Almaviva, a young nobleman who allies with Figaro, the titular barber, in order to woo Rosina. She is the mysterious ward of the elderly and foolish Dr. Bartolo who plans to marry her himself. Laughs and hilarity ensue as Figaro and the Count scheme against their adversaries.

Odyssey
"Sing to me..." From the start, Homer's epic tale of a hero's journey home has been wedded to the singing voice. In Ben Moore and Kelley Rourke's operatic rendition, featuring members of the Young Artists Program and the Glimmerglass Youth Chorus, stories of Odysseus and his faithful wife, Penelope, are given new life with rollicking sailor songs, dramatic storms, a mesmerizing Siren song, a riveting tango, a poignant love duet, and more. Action-packed, colorful, and just plain fun, Odyssey played to standing-room crowds in its 2015 premiere.
