A Day On
This Sunday, from 2 til 4, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Oneonta, the Oneonta Branch of the NAACP together with the City of Oneonta Commission on Community Relations and Human Rights
and several area congregations, will celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
There will be music and speeches commemorating the life, work and dreams of the slain civil rights leader.
And there'll be birthday cake!
The following day, MLK Day...
You'll find celebrations throughout the area. From the colleges to churches to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Whether you attend these events, donate your time and effort doing something GOOD that day, or simply take a moment for reflection, we hope that Dr. King's ever more relevant message of hope, faith and perseverance will provide a motivating, inspiring highlight to your week.
In the meantime and in-between-time, there are an increasing number of diversions on the calendar, and music everywhere!
Have a great time...
and if you're able, we encourage you to take a moment to help keep the dream alive.
We'll see you next Thursday.

Milkweed
Born out of the tight knit and rising Folk music scene of Binghamton NY, the band Milkweed has been drawing crowds and critical acclaim through their second year of full time touring. Their unique shows stand apart from the norm with attention to lyrics and their depth of three part harmonies. While both whimsical and melancholy, Milkweed's music bridges the gaps between genres, combining storytelling with poetry, flat picking with Piedmont blues, and gospel with some hints of rock and roll. Through great dynamics the band can produce fragile spellbinding moments, and then create a full sound far surpassing the expected limits of a trio. Tickets are available for $10 (plus $2 service charge).
