Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP) Training
Springbrook, a leading provider of innovative supports for people with special needs, will host a Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP) training session November 20 - 21. LAMP is an augmentative alternative communication (AAC) approach that teaches language and communication to individuals who are non-verbal or experience a limited range of verbal abilities by using iPads and speech-generating devices in order to provide an independent and spontaneous expression method. While LAMP was originally intended to assist non-verbal individuals with autism, it is now being adapted to benefit people with a wide range of disabilities and communication needs. A few of the topics to be covered include: the role of motor learning in language development and AAC fluency, device features that support implementation, choosing and teaching vocabulary, and introduction to the Words for Life AAC iPad app. This training session is eligible for 0.8 ASHA CEU's (American Speech-Language Hearing Association Continuing Education Units), as well as eight contact hours. Benefit Dinner, Chinese Auction, and Bake Sale

This is a benefit for my (Contessa Nebesnik)'s  mother, Lori Brownell who was diagnosed with breast cancer about two months ago. About 6 weeks ago she had a double mastectomy, she followed up with her oncologist, which informed her that the test weren't favorable so she has to do the Iv chemo instead of the pill which she would have had to taken for 5 years. So the chemo starts on the 24 of November in Oneonta. She will be out of work for about a year, which is shocking since they thought she would have been able to go back in January. After January her insurance will go up. So I have decided to have benefit for her. Benefit for Lori Brownell This is a chili dinner, Chinese auction and bake sale

Percussion and groove. Karen Savoca and Pete Heitzman are sinuous as two skaters gliding on ice as they play across soul, r&b, roots and world rhythms, conjuring a communion between audience and stage. The duo have released eight CDs on their own Alcove Records label, the latest of which is "Promise", recorded in their 19th century church studio nestled deep in the hills of upstate NY. "Promise" reached #25 on the Euro/Americana chart. Dirty Linen says of Karen and Pete: "An addictive blend of hybrid pop with lots of jazz whimsy and slippery funk."
