Bradley to Step Down from Indiana State Presidency
Plans to step down in January 2018
Indiana State University President Daniel J. Bradley announced on April 26 his plans to step down as the University's eleventh president effective January 2018.

"The past nine years have been amazing and rewarding. As has often been said, however, there is a time for everything. Now is our time to reflect, to enjoy our grandkids and to plan our next great adventure," said Bradley of himself and his wife, Cheri. "Seventeen years as a university president and a first lady on two campuses is undoubtedly enough."

Bradley oversaw a period of unprecedented growth and progress on a wide variety of fronts, said David Campbell, chair of the ISU Board of Trustees.

Michael Simmons Legacy
His love for Indiana State will continue with the Michael Simmons Student Activity Endowment
Creative. Competitive. Generous. Those words are how Indiana State University President Dan Bradley remembers his friend, Michael Simmons.

A true Sycamore, Simmons, '64, used those qualities to forever change the experience of Indiana State students. He co-founded the Sycamore Tricycle Derby in October 1963 with his good friends, Tom, '64, and Debbie Bareford, '64, GR '67, as a way to keep students on campus during the weekend.

Simmons died Feb. 7 in Florida at the age of 77, but a $3.8 million planned gift to the Michael Simmons Student Activity Endowment will continue to inspire Simmons' love of teamwork -- and the lifelong skills it instills -- and will touch countless Sycamores for generations to come.

Alumni Feature
Paul Brill '53
As a child, the late Paul Brill was intrigued with Native Americans and their culture. Spending summers on his grandmother's farm in Riley, Ind., the boy would roam the woods and fields finding arrowheads and other artifacts.

That life-long fascination later led Brill to his dream job at the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs. Starting there in 1958, Brill proceeded to spend the rest of his life working with and for Native Americans.

Now he will be laid to rest with his adopted family, the Omaha Nation in Nebraska. Brill died March 19 after suffering a stroke a few days earlier. Brill had turned 86 four days before his death.
