February 1 Financial Aid Deadline Approaching
The February 1 financial aid application deadline is quickly approaching. Because the FAFSA application was available earlier than ever before, the deadline has been moved up from previous years.

If you are applying for financial aid for the fall 2017/spring 2018 academic year, file your applications as soon as possible, and before the February 1 deadline . Your student’s 2017-18 MySlice Financial Aid To Do List will provide details on all the forms and documents that are required.

Helpful tip: when completing the FAFSA, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to import income tax data directly into your FAFSA.  This makes applying quicker and easier.

Winter Activities for Students

Orange After Dark Spring 2017
Orange After Dark is a series of late-night programs and events for SU undergraduate students. These activities are free or low cost, begin after 10 p.m. and provide weekend social opportunities for students.

A tradition that dates back to 1930, this week in February offers fun indoor and outdoor activities.

Thanks to the generosity of Marilyn and Bill Tennity, Syracuse University has an ice skating facility. It features two sheets of ice, a regulation sized sheet and a smaller studio sheet. One of the two sheets is always available for open skating whenever the building is open for business.

The Health Services Pharmacy will administer vaccines Monday through Friday during the months of January and February at Health Services, 111 Waverly Avenue, Room 110 (next to the Pharmacy).
Student Immunization Requirements
Students who are not compliant with New York State immunization requirements (MMR and Meningitis vaccinations) are unable to register.  New York State requires 2 MMR vaccines and a meningitis vaccine.  Immunization records for non-compliant students should be faxed to Health Services at 315-443-9010.
Beat the Winter Blahs
During the winter, snow in Central New York is plentiful, but sunshine is sometimes not. These tips can help your student get through the cold weather months.
  • Get regular exercise/activity
  • Get fresh air, especially on sunny days
  • Eat healthy
  • Get plenty of rest
If your student gets the flu
If your student is directed to remain in their room or apartment because of flu-like symptoms, they may request a boxed meal called a  “Feel Better Food Pack” from Syracuse University Food Services.
