New Student Send-Offs
New Student Send-Offs are held during the summer to welcome new students to the SU family. They are a great way to meet other new students, parents, and current students, and to have your last-minute questions answered!

Orange SUccess Initiative
Orange SUccess is a web-based advising tool that improves the way we support student success at Syracuse University. Students, faculty, and staff can manually raise alerts or flags. Success is a moving target and students need different kinds of encouragement at different times. Orange SUccess will engage students by keeping them informed and prompting them to act when necessary.

Things to bring for a healthy start

Housing Assignments are coming! Important things to keep in mind

The first group of new student room assignments (for those who submitted their housing application prior to the June 1 published deadline) will be emailed to your student’s syr.edu email on July 15.  Once your student receives their housing assignment and roommate information, we encourage them to reach out to their new roommate(s) to begin discussing what it will be like to live together.  Some suggestions for discussion:
  • Who will bring which items?
  • What will be shared?
  • Room standards--cleanliness, music volume, TV time, guests, etc.
  • Move-In Plans
It is important for you to know that many of our residence halls are undergoing renovations this summer. While we are excited for you and your student to see the results, residence halls are considered “hard hat” areas, accessible only to the contractors over the summer. Please plan to tour the residential facilities in August during Syracuse Welcome.  In the meantime, please visit the website below in the weeks to come for helpful information pertaining to residential facilities, meal plan options, and ID card services.
