SYRIAN REFUGEE CRISIS: THE CHURCH IS RESPONDING
A Message from Nazarene Compassionate Ministries
We have all been shocked by the image of a 3-year-old Syrian boy who washed up on a beach in Turkey. His family was desperately trying to escape the fear of death. The war in Syria is in its 5th year and is only growing worse. This summer, we have watched as hundreds of thousands of people have tried to escape the violence by fleeing to Europe.
The crisis in Syria has displaced more than 12 million people. Half of them are children.
Authorities are describing it as the worst
refugee crisis since World War II.
In the midst of the chaos, the Church of the Nazarene has been ministering to refugee families from Syria who are desperate to find safety. Churches in Europe are helping Syrian families relocate and are reaching out to stranded refugees in need of relief aid. Churches in countries near Syria in the Middle East are helping Syrian families resettle, providing for needs such as food and shelter, and providing education and safety for children who are refugees.
