New Report: Turnover Among Wraparound Care Coordinators
The National Wraparound Initiative and the National Wraparound Implementation Center have produced a new report, "Turnover Among Wraparound Care Coordinators: Perspectives on causes, impacts, and remedies." The report provides findings from a national survey and follow-up interviews with selected survey participants and provides information on how turnover rates can be lowered. A recorded webinar, covering key findings from the report and including questions and discussion, also is available.

Applications Available for Up to $5.54 Million for Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for the Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant totaling up to $5.54 million over the next three years. The program is designed to develop a comprehensive, collaborative, well-coordinated, and evidence-based approach to enhance services for all college students, including those at risk for suicide, depression, serious mental illness, and/or substance use disorders that can lead to school failure. The program also aims to prevent mental and substance use disorders; promote help-seeking behavior and reduce stigma; and improve the identification and treatment of at-risk college students so they can successfully complete their studies.

Nominate Now for SAMHSA's 2018 Voice Awards
SAMHSAʹs Voice Awards program honors consumer, peer, and family leaders who are improving the lives of people with mental illnesses and substance use disorders in communities across the country. The awards program also recognizes television and film productions that educate the public about behavioral health and showcase that recovery is real and possible through treatment and recovery supports. Nominations are due by Mar. 16.

Registration Open for Research and Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Behavioral Health
Early bird registration for the 31st annual conference is available until Feb. 16. The conference will take place Mar. 4-7 in Tampa, Florida.

Applications are Now Open for an Expanded Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) Peer Meeting
The MRSS meeting will take place May 23-24 in New Jersey. Participating state teams will work collaboratively with MRSS alumni and experts from Connecticut, New Jersey, and Milwaukee County, focusing on ways to develop, implement, and sustain mobile response and stabilization services for children, youth, and young adults in their states. There also will be an opportunity for one or two individuals from each participant team to 'ride along' with a mobile response unit for hands-on observation of the model on May 22. Applications are due Monday, Feb. 19.

Be a Part of a System Change for Children and Families! 
This free 25-hour web-based Adoption Competency NTI training for Mental Health Professionals is available Mar. – Sept. 2018 for nine pilot sites: California, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, and the Cherokee Nation.

These organizations have proven to be effective vehicles for engaging families and youth leaders in many important roles at the policy and service delivery levels. Challenges and effective strategies will be discussed.

This webinar targets state and local decision makers and advocates involved with Systems of Care and/or Early Psychosis Intervention. FREDLA's Learning Community for Family Leaders: Family-Run Organizations Partnering With Juvenile Justice
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) has prioritized family engagement where families are considered partners in their child’s treatment and the policies, programs, and practices of the juvenile justice system itself. This Learning Community will highlight two family-run organizations, Family Involvement Center (FIC) in Arizona and Parent Professional Advocacy League (PPAL) in Massachusetts, along with their state Juvenile Justice partners to describe how they are working together to support and engage families at all levels of the Juvenile Justice system.

The cognitive model is focused on how individuals’ thoughts and perceptions affect their emotions and behaviors, sometimes in bothersome ways. In this Recovery to Practice webinar, scheduled for Feb. 7, 1-2 p.m. ET, Paul Grant, PhD, and Ellen Inverso, PsyD, focus on the use of CT-R in multidisciplinary services, energizing both the person and the team members.

Beyond Barriers: Navigating Disparities Faced by Marginalized Youth and Young Adults

SAVE THE DATE: TA Network's First Early Psychosis Peer Meeting for System of Care Grantees, Aug. 22-24, in Portland, Ore.
Early psychosis intervention is a high priority nationally and for many SOC grantees. Successful implementation requires specialized knowledge, coordination across adult and child systems, and consistent leadership. This peer meeting will provide an opportunity for teams of state/county decision-makers to learn from national experts about effective implementation strategies, current core practices and philosophies, and how programs function on the ground as well as to learn from one another about strategies grantees are considering or implementing in their states/counties. The meeting will include individual team planning time facilitated by national experts in the field. Look for additional details and the application soon.
SAMHSA Announces First Director of the National Mental Health and Substance Use Policy Laboratory
Christopher M. Jones, PharmD, MPH, has joined SAMHSA as the first director of the National Mental Health and Substance Use Policy Laboratory. Before joining SAMHSA, Jones served as acting associate deputy assistant secretary for science and data policy and director of the division of science policy in the office of the assistant secretary for planning and evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
