Expos: Japanese Photography - Past, Present, and Future
Join us on October 16 as Mark Pearson and Mihyun Kang give us a fascinating glimpse into the past, present, and future of Japanese photography. Russet Lederman will moderate the talk in conversation style.
Mark Pearson is a Tokyo-based publisher, gallerist, collector, and collaborator with Miyako Yoshinaga on her gallery's current exhibition Issei Suda: Life In Flower 1971-1977. In addition to producing exhibitions and publications with Issei Suda (b. 1940), Kazuo Kitai (b. 1944) and Seiji Kurata (b. 1945), he has also worked with a number of the younger generation of Japanese photographers and a number of the great Chinese contemporary photographers. Pearson will discuss how he became involved with these extraordinary yet under-appreciated artists and the significance to the art market of the growing international interest in Japanese and other Asian photography.
