Pastor's Note

I'm happy to be home and be with you again on June 11. I preached once in Germany and saw about fifteen receive Christ.

You can keep me in prayer as I will be leaving Sunday evening for a first of its kind annual meeting of independent Baptist pastors. I've pushed gently behind the scenes for three or four years for this meeting to happen. It brings together two different groups of independent Baptists. I've been asked to do a workshop for chaplains and preach one of the keynote sermons at the conference. I will return on June 17 after a week of ministry in Wisconsin.

Remember, if you are serious about going to Greece and Israel with Elma and me, look at the link on Tri-City's home page and follow directions. I can only take 84 people other than the three couples who are leading the trip. We must have a deposit of $500 by the end of July. So if you are not getting emails from me about the trip and you are interested, please contact Janet Paine about being added to the list.

I will say to you all that I have several burdens on my heart right now. I won't go into details in a public forum, but the attacks of Satan on our ministry are constant and never-ending. Please lift your pastors and their families up in prayer.

Our IBCS Ministry Team is on the road and recruiting. Another team will be leaving soon for the Philippines to do evangelism. Our teens are working in a church plant on the other side of town this week. Our ministry impacts the world in ways that very few churches of up to 5000 do. Satan hates that. Keep that in mind. He loves to divide people and families and get them focused on that which is truly inconsequential to distract them from that which is eternal. Let's not join Satan in his work against Christ's church!

Kneeling to stand,

Book of the Month
The Vanishing American Adult
In The Vanishing American Adult, Sasse diagnoses the causes of a generation that can't grow up and offers a path for raising children to become active and engaged citizens. He identifies core formative experiences that all young people should pursue: hard work to appreciate the benefits of labor, travel to understand deprivation and want, the power of reading, the importance of nurturing your body--and explains how parents can encourage them.

Summer Bus Ministry
Looking for a way to be a blessing this summer? Here is a great ministry! Our bus ministry is looking for some volunteers to help out during the summer months. Every Sunday our minibus goes to nursing homes and picks up those who otherwise would not be able to attend the Sunday Morning Service. Volunteers will help load passengers and share a helping hand (and a joyful smile!). For details or to volunteer, contact Steve Lenzmeier (480-459-0381).

Home Away from Home International
Home Away from Home (HAH) International is an outreach ministry to foreign international students at ASU. Through HAH International we will have the chance to share our culture, our family, and our faith with students from all over the world without leaving home. If you would like to share the love of Christ with people you could not meet any other way, please prayerfully consider being a part of this new ministry opportunity. For more information, please contact Pastor Nathan Mestler (480-334-5078).
