Pastor's Note

I've had such a wonderful week. I've spent 6 :00 a .m . to 2 :00 p .m . every day teaching twelve pastors around the world on the topic of Small Groups. I'm teaching a missionary in the jungle of Thailand, a Hungarian pastor in Budapest, a veteran missionary to Haiti, a young man on deputation to go to Norway and several other pastors around the Midwest. It has been an exhausting week for me. But I was born to teach and so completely love doing it . While I'm completely exhausted at the end of the day, combining that teaching with all the staff work I do for the church, I can't imagine doing anything other than teaching.

I will be leaving shortly after the Sunday morning service for a 24 hour trip to DC. I get in at midnight there and have some very important meetings. I am being lied about by a particular senior officer , and it is so serious that the Command Chaplain that I work with in Germany is taking three days from his job in Germany to fly to DC to defend me. I will be back about midnight on Monday night. Then Pastor Jason and I are taking ten high school juniors and seniors to the mountains to camp on Tuesday and will have a good time.

Then Saturday is our "all staff/deacons and spouses" in-service. It's going to be a great time. We will be at the church from 10 :00 a .m .-2 :00 p .m. We will have fun with our personalities and learn how to work together better. My sister who was for many years a vice-president for training with JPMorgan Chase will be leading us through the training and fun-filled day. Childcare and lunch will be provided.

I have three more sermons in my series on the book of Psalms. I have so enjoyed this study. If you didn't hear the first message in the series, you can find it on our website and listen or watch it on LiveStream. I'm so eager to share the truths of God's Word with you on Sunday. Be in your place on Sunday at 9:15 a.m. for Adult Bible Fellowship and then at 10:30 a.m. for the morning service.

Kneeling to stand,

Book of the Month
The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus
The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus explains the greatest of Bible themes clearly and logically. Rather than focusing on one part and missing the whole, the author chronologically binds together the entire text into one great universal drama, looking at events from the perspective of those who experienced history in the making. The results are sometimes comical, sometimes frightening, but always true to the intent of the text. When you are done reading it, you may find yourself believing "the Book" like you never have before.

IBCS Guest Chef
Do you enjoy cooking? International Baptist College and Seminary is looking for another guest chef to cook periodically for students on Sundays during the Fall semester (starts in August!). This gives the regular cooks a break and allows the students to enjoy a wider variety of food. If you are interested, pick up a brochure at the Welcome Center or contact Elisabeth Tjepkema.

Volunteer in the Nursery!
We are looking for more nursery workers due to regular volunteers being on vacation and our college girls being away. We have open spots where we could use your help. If you could help out even one time, please let Barrie and Sue Wheeler or Janet Paine know.

Home Away from Home International
Home Away from Home (HAH) International is an outreach ministry to foreign international students at ASU, but also applies to our own college/seminary. Through HAH International we will have the chance to share our culture, our family, and our faith with students from all over the world without leaving home. If you would like to share the love of Christ with people you could not meet any other way, please prayerfully consider being a part of this new ministry opportunity. For details,  contact Pastor Nathan Mestler.
