WHAT YOU MAY HAVE MISSED
Getting down to business
City Council met Monday for  their monthly meeting. Here's the skinny:

Due to improvements on the Rock Hill system, they are raising water and sewer rates as of July 1, 2016. Since we all know what rolls downhill (insinuated pun intended), Fort Mill is also raising water and sewer rates which in turn causes us to raise water and sewer rates. You can view the exact change in rates here, but how bad are you going to feel it? Customers will see an increase of about $4.30 per month on your utility bill.

Council also approved the 1st of two readings on funding for the new Fire Station which will be located in Stonecrest across from Ledgestone Ct . Need to rewind a little further on this one? City Council approved the idea of a Fire Station back in 2014 by negotiating with the Stonecrest Developer to obtain land for a future Station Once built, the new station will make sure all of Tega Cay is protected with quick response times, low ISO ratings  (the lower the ratings the better we are, think golf) and potential savings in home insurance. Safety first!

Planning Commission and City Council also held a public hearing on a potential annexation of properties beside the Lake Ridge development on Dam Road. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the rezoning and City Council will consider approval of the request at the next meeting on June 20th.   After the public hearing, the proposed development would consist of up to 124 single family homes very similar to single family section of Calloway here on the peninsula (age targeted 1.5 story homes with maintenance free living - no yard work).

City Manager Funderburk announced the funding and plans have been approved for walking trails in Lake Ridge. Construction is expected to begin this summer and  be completed by the end of November. Add new exercise clothes to the ol' Christmas list.

We Heart TCPD
Chief Parker joined area Police Chiefs and the Sheriff, as well as officers from around the county, in the  21st Annual Police Honor and Memorial Service on Tuesday. The service honored those currently serving in law enforcement as well as remembered those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. City Council also shared their gratitude for the Police Department in their meeting on Monday in honor of National Police Week (May 15-21). If you have the opportunity, stop by the station and give them an in-person thank you.
JUST IN TIME
Congratulations all graduates!
Parents have experienced many lasts over the past couple weeks...last sports tournament, last school program, prom pictures, banquet, lunch packing. We know today will be bittersweet, but we'd like to offer our sincere congratulations to our seniors this year. We are impressed and proud to hear many of the exciting accomplishments and plans for our Tega Cay kids. " You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..." -D r. Seuss Oh, The Places You'll Go!
