BestBidz on Demand

TCA's Electronic Plans Room better known as BestBidz offers General Contractors a product known as On Demand - this product allows our General Contractors (GCs) to manage and control project documents and the bidding process by  inviting sub-contractors and suppliers they know to bid on projects.

If you don't have many contacts for a certain trade, you now have the ability to use a directory of contacts, within BestBidz, On Demand, to help narrow down a trade or location.

BestBidz On Demand eliminates the need for external FTP sites making it easier to distribute tender documents, increases project exposure, is less expensive compared to similar services, and frees up more time to prepare your tender for an owner.

If you're interested in using a new feature that will simplify your bidding process  and allow you to receive bids in one convenient online location, make sure to contact Teddy Tse, Electronic Plans Room Manager at 416-847-9157 / [email protected].

COR™ MANDATORY TRAINING

The Certificate of Recognition (COR™) provides employers with an effective tool to assess their health and safety management system. COR™ is aimed at driving positive workplace behaviour and practices that lead to improved performance.
It is currently being used across Canada and is a pre-qualification requirement for many contractors working in and out of the province and on public- and private-sector projects.
By achieving COR™, employers are able to demonstrate to buyers of construction that their health and safety management system have been developed, implemented, and evaluated on an annual basis through comprehensive internal and external audits.
One of the steps to achieve COR™ is mandatory trainingA representative from senior management and one designated full-time permanent employee must take prescribed training. This training is conducted to help the employer understand and commit to the program, and for the permanent full-time employee to become the designated Internal Auditor.
Senior Management Representative  must complete  one course:
  • COR™ Essentials (Course #1)
  • ***Note that Senior Management Representative who takes COR™ Internal Auditor (Course #3) and Introduction to Hazard and Risk Management (Course #4) will help with successfully completing COR internal auditing.
Permanent Full-Time Employee  must complete  four courses:

Project Bid Opportunities

Project of the Month

ONtca-169597 - Orillia Recreation Centre, 255 West Street South, Orillia, Ontario

Issued for tender by the City of Orillia and MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects, a new recreation centre is set to break ground in Orillia.  Located at 255 West Street, the project includes an aquatic centre, gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, a walking/jogging track, preschool room, office space and a fitness centre. One unique aspect of the 248-metre track is that it will feature varying elevations, allowing cardio workouts that closely simulate "hill" runs.  With construction set to begin August 2016, a contract is expected to be awarded to a prequalified contractor in July 2016. The project is slated for completion in summer 2018, and is estimated to cost $42 million dollars in construction alone.
