IDA Project Highlight:
Tompkins Financial

The groundbreaking for the $31.3 million, seven-story, Tompkins Financial headquarters took place on June 17th.  The new building will be located at 116 E. Seneca St. and will bring together 300 employees (10% of the employment base downtown) currently located in several buildings around Ithaca.  There are many benefits to building downtown, but also some higher costs as well.  The IDA delivered incentives to assist with the additional cost.

Michael Stamm Appointed to Regional Leadership Roles

Michael Stamm was re-elected to another term as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Electric & Gas Alliance (MEGA) at its recent annual meeting. MEGA was founded in 2001 and is an aggregator of electricity, natural gas and renewable power demand. MEGA's customers include thirty county governments in New York State and more than 250 other municipalities and school districts. Its primary objective is to achieve the most competitive prices for electricity and natural gas for its members in order to minimize the cost of energy.

Michael Stamm was also appointed by SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher to the Community College Council for the Southern Tier Region. These newly formed Councils will be charged, in part, with aligning community college programs with the needs of employers in the region.
