Pastor Tom's Note:

How to Deal With Setbacks on the Freedom Trail

In case you missed it, you can listen to Sunday’s sermon here.

On their own freedom trail, the Israelites have already faced significant setbacks (Exodus 16-17). However, what happens at the foot of Mount Sinai in Exodus 32 defines ‘epic fail.’ In fact, this building of the “golden calf” becomes THE symbol of idolatry in the Bible. Yahweh has a zero-tolerance policy for the worship of other godsClick here to read more.

Tom is generally in the TCC office weekday afternoons from 12-4P.  You can reach him at 508-358-7717, EXT 302 or at [email protected].

A new ministry group begins this fall, open to those both within and outside of the TCC community. The group's purpose will be to support and encourage those grieving the death a loved one. This weekly grief support group will meet on Tuesday evenings at TCC for 12 weeks beginning September 19. The book "Understanding Your Grief" by Alan Wolfelt will be used as a format for discussion (book cost is $12). If you or someone you know could benefit from journeying with others in their grief experience, please contact one of the co-leaders, Jane Stankiewicz: [email protected], 508-314-0827 or Kathleen Barrett: [email protected], 508-308-4985.

Teddy Sayonkon Foundation - Scholarship Fund Raising Efforts Now Underway. Will You Help?

TCC member Teddy Sayonkon continues his mission work in Liberia, with an effort to raise funds for ten highly motivated children to attend a Christian school this year. Less than $500 per child will allow them to buy uniforms and attend school. Donating to support these children is a wonderful way to tangibly share the love of Christ!

"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”  1John 3:17-18

Previously nine students received scholarships and are shown in the photos to the left.

Donations of any amount can be made to the "Teddy Sayonkon Foundation (TSF)."  The TSF now has a newly formed Board (Paul Church, Kevin Johnson, Debbie Wilson and Teddy Sayonkon) and they are working to make the foundation an official nonprofit organization and gain tax exempt status.  (Unfortunately, contributions are not currently tax deductible.)  Donations can be given to any Board member, or you can mail it to PO Box 215 North Billerica, MA 01862.

Mom to Mom meets weekly to address issues and needs of women and family, guided by Biblical principles. We offer encouragement, compassion, and support to moms with children of all ages living at home. For over fifteen years, hundreds of Moms from the community at-large have come together and learned that they "are not alone" in the delight and struggles of raising a family. Any mom, independent of religious affiliation, is invited to join us.

Mom to Mom also offers a wonderful Christian Children's Ministry Program for infants through kindergartners. There are crafts, music, games and Bible stories for toddlers on up. A loving and responsible children's team offers your kids the best!

Please note that moms and children must be pre-registered. Placement in the children's program is offered on a first come, first served basis. Registration is open to children until October 6th. To register; please visit:  www.momtomomwayland.org.

TCC runs on volunteers!
Please visit the TCC “How to Serve” webpage at http://www.tccwayland.org/serve.php for more information. Here are a few current opportunities:

Greeting Ministry
We are re-launching our Sunday Greeter Ministry. If you would like to serve as a Greeter on Sunday mornings, email [email protected].

Additional Ushers Still Needed…
Our mission:  To welcome every visitor and member to the house of God!
What is needed: Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God’s kingdom.  You’re not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!
Could you help one Sunday morning a month?  Please contact Debbie Wilson at [email protected] or 508-358-7717.

Coffee Hour needs YOU!
If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others during the 10:30 Fellowship time, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!  You don’t even have to provide snacks – just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea!  ( Easy instructions provided – click here to see what is involved!)
Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members .
Please sign up at the Connection Hub this Sunday or contact Robin Spinale, our new Coffee Hour Coordinator!

Volunteer Offering Counters Needed …
Are you accurate and reliable?  Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers.  Offering counters work in pairs.  Contact Aimee Mury at [email protected] or 508- 358-7717, x303 if this might be a way you could help us.  Training provided!

Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,

Debbie Wilson
