Pastor's Note
"Servant-Leadership?"

The idea of 'servant-leadership' has gained the status of conventional wisdom to describe leadership styles both in religious and secular contexts: Serving your constituency, listening to her/his needs and being available, etc., are wonderful values that are sure to create repeat customers and loyal followers in short order...

Name Change, Updates and Help Still Needed!
T he Teddy Sayonkon Foundation (TSF) has officially changed its name to
Lifting Up Liberian Youth (LULY ).  LULY now has a Board of Directors (Teddy Sayonkon, Paul Church, Kevin Johnson and Debbie Wilson) and they are working on attaining 501c3 tax exempt status. Discussions are underway with an existing TCC supported mission organization, D.M. Stearns, to act as an umbrella missions organization for LULY.

We currently have 8 barrels full of clothing, shoes, school supplies, toys, backpacks, books and Bibles, but we’d like to fill 2 more before Teddy heads to Liberia in August to distribute these supplies. Can you help? If you would like to donate any of these items, please leave them in the designated collection area in the stairwell off the lobby.
Financial help toward the cost for shipping as well as Teddy’s travel costs is also greatly needed.

Feel free to reach out to anyone of the Board members for more information. Teddy can be reached at: elwa08@yahoo.com or 978-761-5239.

What We’re Learning in LTA - June 10.

Pre-K:
Have you ever used a compass to show you which way to go? They’re great for helping you on a hike, but not as great when we’re trying to figure out which way to go in life. We need the Bible for that. This month, we’re going to start our ride through the Bikes and Trikes theme as we teach our preschoolers that the Bible tells us which way to go. How wonderful would it be if our preschoolers grew up using the Bible as their compass as they ride through life!

WEEK 2 In week 2, preschoolers will hear how John 13:34-35 tells us to love one another. And, one another means everyone, not just our best friends.

Story Focus: The Bible tells me to look for ways to help others. Helping others is a concrete way to show love. And, we can always find ways to help each other.

K-5:
Our Life Application for the month is Confidence - Living like you believe what God says is true.  We will be learning that Confidence is a reflection of the character of God.

Our Memory Verse for the month is:
"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living." Psalm 27:13 NIV

Week 2:
Bible Story – Judges 6-8
Bottom Line - Jesus matters most.

Week 2: We look at Judges 6-8 and learn how God called Gideon to lead the Israelites even though Gideon doubted God would want him. We will learn how God can use people to do amazing things.  Bottom Line:  God can use you no matter what.
LTA Mission Opportunity

During the months of May and June, LTA will be collecting new and gently used swimsuits for children living at the Henderson Settlement, a mission in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. The Settlement, located in the 2 nd poorest county in KY, provides a free summer recreation day program for 85-100 youth from kindergarten through high school. The program is in great need of basic summer necessities that many of the children cannot afford, such as swimsuits. Please touch base with your children and ask them to consider donating their old swimsuit to this program so campers can experience a healthy and cheerful summer. There is a collection box by the Children’s Ministry check in desk. Thank you!

Greeting Ministry

Greeters stand in the lobby and doors to help people into the building safely. Arrive at 9 am and help us foster a welcoming community.

Usher Ministry

Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God’s kingdom. You’re not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!

Sunday Hospitality / Coffee Hour

If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others during the 10:30 Fellowship time, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!  You don’t even have to provide snacks – just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea (Easy instructions provided – click here to see what is involved!) Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members.

Counters

Are you accurate and reliable? Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers. Offering counters work in pairs.
Local Outreach
This year we are partnering with three local organizations to help us achieve the greatest impact in serving our community. We believe that working alongside local Christian organizations is the best way to serve our community. We also believe that serving the poor is an essential part of the Christian faith. If you are not yet involved in one of these ministries, sign up yourself and/or your LIFE group today!

For more information, please contact Jen Calverley or Nancy Griffin at 508-358-7717 or email frontdesk@tccwayland.org.
The Bridge House

The Bridge House, located in Framingham, is a faith-based recovery home for men with substance abuse problems. Their program provides individualized treatment including counseling to support the spiritual, physical, social and intellectual health of each person in recovery. TCC would like to provide a meal for 50 to Bridge House every month.
Pearl Street Cafe

Pearl Street Cafe provides dinner for 50-100 people every weeknight. TCC will provide 12 volunteers to serve dinner there every 1st and 5th Monday of the month from 4:30-7 pm. It's a great way to serve others in our community and no cooking experience is required. We simply wait on tables and serve food prepared by the Pearl St. Cafe staff . There is no age restriction on the volunteers. We hope you will join us and serve!
Open Table

Open Table is a local food pantry located in Maynard. We have short opening and closing shifts on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings to serve. Adults and High School age students can volunteer at the Open Table food pantry.

Donations to the TCC “Loaves & Fishes” Food Pantry are gratefully accepted. There is a collection bin on a table near the lobby stairwell. We only accept donations of non-perishable food and personal items. WE RESPECTFULLY ASK YOU NOT TO DONATE ANY OPEN OR EXPIRED ITEMS – WE JUST HAVE TO THROW THEM AWAY!
