(Due to technical difficulties, the sermon was not recorded this week.)

Jonah's Story and the Character of God

The book of Jonah is unusual even by biblical standards. The Lord "appoints" a 'big fish' (I wished it said a whale but it's just one big fish story); He "appoints" a big storm, a tree, a worm and finally a scorching wind. The whole drama seems to remind us that God as the creator of the sea, air and land is quite capable of creating a creature to swallow and spit out a human being, a little worm, a plant, and cause a couple of wicked strong storms. Paul reminds us in Colossians 1:16 that it is by Jesus that "all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible..."

Everything Left in the Church Coat Closets and Kitchen will be Donated on July 30.

Our coat closets, Lost and Found box, and kitchen rack (by the refrigerator) are overflowing once again!    We are currently doing our summer cleaning. Please help us stay organized by taking a few minutes to go through what’s there, and claim your belongings.  All unclaimed items left in the church closets will be donated on Monday, July 30.  Thank you!

Parking and Being Respectful of our Neighbors’ Yards on Sunday Mornings.

Thank you to all who park off-site to leave spots open in the TCC lot! One additional request… as you walk over to TCC, please be respectful of our neighbors! Avoid parking on their lawns, blocking their driveways or walking across their properties.

Thank You for Donations to LULY...

Lifting Up Liberian Youth (LULY ), formally known as the Teddy Sayonkon Foundation (TSF), has filled the 10 barrels of supplies to be sent to Liberia. Thank you! Teddy will be heading to Liberia in August to personally distribute these supplies. Financial help toward the cost of shipping as well as for Teddy’s travel costs is still greatly needed.

LULY now has a Board of Directors (Teddy Sayonkon, Paul Church, Kevin Johnson and Debbie Wilson) and they are working on attaining 501c3 tax exempt status. Discussions are underway with an existing TCC supported mission organization, D.M. Stearns, to act as an umbrella mission’s organization for LULY. Feel free to reach out to anyone of the Board members for more information. Teddy can be reached at: elwa08@yahoo.com or 978-761-5239.

If You Are Away This Summer and Would Like to Receive an Electronic Copy of the Bulletin p lease contact the office. For privacy reasons, we do not publish the weekly prayer concerns in TCC’s email newsletter, as the email newsletter is posted on our website. Help Needed to Create “Trinity Pulpit” Podcasts

TCC has many cassette tape recordings of Rev. Donald Ewing’s sermons. We would like to convert all of these tapes to MP3, then we'd have the option to digitally recreate Rev. Ewing’s Trinity Pulpit, post them on our website or store them.

We need one to two volunteers to help organize the tapes.

We also need someone with ideas, knowledge and the time to convert these cassette tapes into MP3 format.

If you'd like to help, please email Nancy at frontdesk@tccwayland.org

What We’re Learning in LTA in This Week

God is stronger than anyone and He can do things that would be impossible for you or me. He has proved this throughout history, but nowhere is this more evident than in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Because of what Jesus has done, we can have confidence. And when you put your faith in Jesus, you can live fully alive.

Pre-K:

Week 4: I Can Be a Part of God’s Family; Hebrews 10: 24-25

Story Focus: The Bible tells me I can be part of God’s family.

K-5:
Week 4:    Peter and John before the Sanhedrin; Acts 4:1-22; supporting Acts

Bottom Line:  When Jesus is with you, you can face anything.

Greeting Ministry

Greeters stand in the lobby and at the doors to help people into the building safely. Arrive at 9 am and help us foster a welcoming community.

Usher Ministry

Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God’s kingdom. You’re not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!

Sunday Hospitality / Coffee Hour

If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others during the 10:30 am Fellowship time, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!  You don’t even have to provide snacks – just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea (Easy instructions provided – click here to see what is involved!) Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members.

Counters

Are you accurate and reliable? Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers. Offering counters work in pairs.
Local Outreach
This year we are partnering with three local organizations to help us achieve the greatest impact in serving our community. We believe that working alongside local Christian organizations is the best way to serve our community. We also believe that serving the poor is an essential part of the Christian faith. If you are not yet involved in one of these ministries, sign up yourself and/or your LIFE group today!

For more information, please contact Jen Calverley or Nancy Griffin at 508-358-7717 or email frontdesk@tccwayland.org.
The Bridge House

The Bridge House, located in Framingham, is a faith-based recovery home for men with substance abuse problems. Their program provides individualized treatment including counseling to support the spiritual, physical, social and intellectual health of each person in recovery. TCC would like to provide a meal for 50 to Bridge House every month.
Pearl Street Cafe

Pearl Street Cafe provides dinner for 50-100 people every weeknight. TCC will provide 12 volunteers to serve dinner there every 1st and 5th Monday of the month from 4:30-7 pm. It's a great way to serve others in our community and no cooking experience is required. We simply wait on tables and serve food prepared by the Pearl St. Cafe staff . There is no age restriction on the volunteers. We hope you will join us and serve!
Open Table

Open Table is a local food pantry located in Maynard. We have short opening and closing shifts on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings to serve. Adults and High School age students can volunteer at the Open Table food pantry.
