Boardman Lake Trail Preliminary Design
For nearly 30 years the community has supported the vision of a trail circ ling Boardman Lake. Since 2002, 3.5 miles have been completed, providing trail users with a special opportunity to escape the urban bustle of Traverse City and enjoy a wooded trail perfect for walking, running, bicycling, and relaxation.
The trail provides thousands of residents in Garfield Township and Traverse City direct access to major destinations including: Traverse Area District Library, retail and commercial areas,
along with Hull and Medalie Parks and boat
launches. The trail spurns economic development along the lake with new businesses, single family homes and condominium developments all connected to the trail.
With support from a Coastal Zone Management Grant and in partnership with Garfield Township, Grand Traverse County and the City of Traverse City, preliminary design work is underway. Your continued support is needed to keep up the momentum for completing the trail. (Summary by TART Trails)
While this long awaited and carefully planned project nears action, it will need community support, especially from area Young Professionals. For more information, suggestions or questions please contact the TCYP representative for this project, Dan Baker at or visit the TART Trails   website. Please let your voice be heard by emailing city, county and township officials to express your support for this project. See contact information below:

Election Candidate Meet & Greet, Emerging YP Advocacy Group Announcement
Don't miss the chance to mingle and connect with this year's local election candidates. The Morning Brew taking place on August 18 from 8 - 9 a.m. will have a very casual agenda. YP Chair Lauren Harris will have a brief update about a new emerging committee focused on advocacy for the YPs, then the spot light will shift to the candidates. They will each introduce themselves and give an abbreviated background, and then the rest is up to YOU to interact and ask questions. Don't miss this great opportunity to meet some great folks, get your questions answered, and opinions heard. Register below and we will see you then!
