The following five innovative companies recently received a total of $600,000 in TEDCO Seed funding:
- Adaptive Phage Therapeutics, Inc, located in Gaithersburg, is developing PhageBank® a library of bacterial viruses that treat antibiotic resistant bacteria infections.
- Ataata, Inc., located in Bethesda, creates a cybersecurity education platform used to mitigate cyber-threats caused by human error in the workplace.
- ValuNav, LLC, located in Edgewater, is a leading (alternative) analysis and group decision-making solution that helps companies determine the most optimal choices for their resource alignment.
- TrackOFF, Inc., located in Baltimore, has a privacy management tool that disrupts digital-fingerprinting tools by injecting data inputs with false information.
- Zuul, Inc., located in Columbia, offers cybersecurity protection for the industrial internet of things.

Betamore, Hopkins, UM launch health care incubator
|
Betamore, Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures and UM Ventures have launched Trajectory Next, a health care startup incubator focused on helping new companies that already have gone through at least one accelerator program. The program was one of the recipients of $125,000 in funding from TEDCO’s Incubation Challenge at the fall Entrepreneur Expo.

TEDCO stem cell investments yield 1,400 jobs in Maryland, report says
|
The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund, administered by TEDCO, supports research grants and loans to public and private entities. The funds are intended to help push innovative stem cell therapies toward commercialization. To date, more than $140 million has been committed to over 400 research projects in the state through the fund and have resulted in the creation of nearly 1,400 new jobs over the past 10 years.

The state-backed Maryland Innovation Opportunity Fund I provides fresh capital after MVF was retooled. The money comes from Maryland’s State Retirement and Pension Fund

New TEDCO and National Cancer Institute Partnership Intermediary Agreement
|
TEDCO and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) have entered into a Partnership Intermediary Agreement. The NCI coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients. It is of mutual interest to NCI and TEDCO to arrange the licensing of NCI technologies and collaborative opportunities with Maryland educational institutions and companies, to engage in advancing the state-of-the-art and the commercialization of products to benefit the public.
