A message from Linda D. Buckles
TFRW President

No one can really imagine all the volunteer hours and planning that goes into organizing large events like our  TFRW State  Convention.  It was a wonderful Convention and I am so proud of the great job Chairman Millie Gump and her committee did putting it all together!  There were three educational workshops on Friday afternoon and on Friday night there was a forum with all the Gubernatorial Candidates moderated by our TNGOP Chairman, Scott Golden.  Saturday started with a Memorial Breakfast followed by the Opening of the General Session One to hear reports including the Nominating Committee report, voting on officers and voting on the Bylaws revisions.  At lunch on Saturday we heard from Representative Debra Moody and Senator Dolores Gresham.  Following lunch Resolutions were presented, the Awards were presented and Chattanooga and Johnson City bid for the TFRW Convention in 2019.  Johnson City won the bid for the Carnegie Hotel to have the next TFRW Convention in 2019!  Saturday night we heard from Congressman David Kustoff and Congressman Marsha Blackburn.  After the speeches Lee Mills, Shelby County Republican Party Chairman, did our live auction and them helped with the Opportunity Drawing.  After the auction, Congressman Marsha Blackburn installed the new TFRW Executive Committee and the new Area Vice Presidents.  To finish the night Alicia Lundquist lead the crowd in a melody of patriotic songs.

I want to be the first to congratulate the newly elected Executive Committee.  The next couple of months will be a transition period for some of our new officers.  The newly elected Executive Committee officially begins January 1, 2018.

Pictured are:  Linda D. Buckles, current TFRW President; N'gaio Wesenberg, Treasurer; Maria C. Stewart, Corresponding Secretary; Sharon Boreing, Recording Secretary; Marie Tillman, 2nd Vice President; Mary Stimek, 1st Vice President and President Elect Barbara Trautman with Congressman Marsha Blackburn.

It has been an honor to serve the TFRW for 2 terms.  I have really enjoyed traveling across the state, meeting so many ladies and making so many new friends!  The last four years are ones I will never forget!

President Linda D. Buckles reported Tennessee was awarded the Betty Heitman Award for State Excellence by the NFRW.

Congratulations!!!

 New TFRW Regents Program

New TFRW Regents Program
On October 20, 2017, the TFRW Executive Committee gave the green light to establish a TFRW Regents program which will begin activities in 2018.  This program will play a key role in helping TFRW fulfill its primary mission of bringing 'women to the table,' as well as, providing operating capital which TFRW can use to:
  • Maintain low general membership rates
  • Make memberships affordable to women of all ages and economic backgrounds
  • Support the wide range of TFRW education and training programs
  • Provide for special projects, networking events, special speakers
All of the above help Republican women stay informed and develop skills that allow us to achieve our goals at the grassroots, state and national levels.
The benefits of becoming a TFRW Regent will be:
  • An exclusive membership pin
  • Private receptions and events held in your honor with notable Republican guests
  • Networking opportunities with Republican dignitaries
  • Listing in Ladies Day and Convention Programs
  • Preferred seating at Ladies Day and Convention Meals
  • Invitation to special events held in conjunction with Ladies Day and Convention
  • Listing on the TFRW website in the Regents Section
All of this is possible for only $300 annually which may be paid in one lump sum, in 2 equal payments or 3 equal payments.
To become a TFRW Regent, please fill out the attached membership application, write a check to the TFRW with Regents Program on the memo line and send it to:
Gale S. Morton - TFRW Regents Coordinator
1490 Bullock Hollow Road
Bristol, TN  37620
In conjunction with this new program, the TFRW Executive Committee discontinued the TFRW Futurists Program. Because those members had paid $300 in membership dues for the Futurist Program, it was decided that the Futurists may join the Regents program with dues waived for 2018 only. But we still need Futurists to complete a membership application.  If you were a member of the Futurists and would like to continue in the Regents program, please complete a membership application and send it to the address above.  A copy of the brochure is also attached for your reference.  Any questions, you might have may be directed to Gale Morton at [email protected] or 423-366-5555.
Special thanks go out to the members of the TFRW Regents Exploratory Committee who put this program together.  Committee members are: Barbara Trautman, Marie Tillman, Mary Stimek and Gale Morton. Great job, Ladies!
