Summer Classes at WGM
Try something new this summer... Come learn with us! We look forward to seeing you at WGM!
Class Highlight: Spin to Weave SAORI
Spinning is an art in and of itself, but the yarn can be perfect for weaving, especially for SAORI! Join us for this unique opportunity to study both. First, students will work with spinning instructor Anne Burgeson to explore spinning creative and textured yarns to use for SAORI weaving. Then, students weave on a SAORI loom with instructor Chiaki O’Brien using freshly handspun yarn. Free your expression and creativity in this exciting class!

Dates:
Spinning with Anne Burgeson: May 30 & June 1:  5:30 - 8:30pm
Weaving with Chiaki O'Brien: June 3: 10:00am - 4:00pm

Level and Prerequisites: Multi/Any!
Tuition: $108 WGM / $144 Non-member

"Trial and Hair" by Karen B. Lehman
"Once again the Spinners were challenged to Five Card Long Draw. This year I was determined to pluck up the courage to play. The object of the game is to produce a product dictated by the five cards “drawn” from the piles of spinning criteria (yarn size, number of plies, color, type of item spun for, and fiber). Cautiously I scrutinized my hand..."
Volunteer at Shepherd's Harvest, May 13 & 14

Join WGM at the 2017 Shepherd’s Harvest Sheep and Wool Festival held at the Washington County Fairgrounds! Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this annual event is the largest sheep and wool festival in Minnesota. Using held on Mother's Day weekend, Shepherd's Harvest brings together 130+ vendors to meet all your fiber-related needs.

Each year, WGM volunteers provide information about the guild and demonstrate their talents. We are looking for spinners, weavers, and other fiber folks willing to demo and chat. If you are able to volunteer for a 2 hour time slot for the WGM table on either Saturday or Sunday, please register here. A ticket for free parking/admission will be given to those who volunteer.

In addition, WGM is giving a presentation of the warp-weighted loom at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 13th. Read more, here.

If you have any questions regarding this volunteer opportunity, please contact committee co-chair Melba Granlund.

Volunteer with WGM!
Shepherd's Harvest, Northern Spark and summer farmers markets are all coming up and present wonderful opportunities for you to share your love of weaving, spinning and dyeing with the community.

Interested in volunteering? Questions? Please contact volunteer co-chair, Melba

WGM in the Press

World Art Day at the Northrop was a success! Many new participants learned about WGM and our offerings. AND a spinning moment was captured in the Star Tribune. Thank you to the volunteer/outreach committee for organizing.
