Dr. Michael L. Green Jr. is a bariatric surgeon with practices in Colleyville, Dallas and Fort Worth. He is a native of Indianapolis, IN, attended the Benjamin Banneker Honors College at Prairie View A & M University and went to medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Green's passion for treating morbid obesity began during his five years of residency training at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Peoria. To further cultivate this passion, he went on to complete an Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at Providence Hospital, affiliated with Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Green offers the gold standard of surgical weight reduction with a minimally invasive approach. He continues to strive for excellence in this field. He has trained residents and senior surgeons in minimally invasive surgery. He has also served as a preceptor for other surgeons who are beginning in the field of bariatric surgery.
His experience and leadership in the field of bariatric surgery has placed him in key positions to impact weight loss surgery in the DFW area by serving as Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at multiple facilities in the Metroplex. He is board certified and is affiliated with several professional organizations:
* American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
* Texas Association of Bariatric Surgeons
* International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity
* National Medical Association
* Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons
* He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons

During the March 25th
Family & Friends Day/PV Relays NAA Executive Board Members and Chapter Presidents facilitated our first recruitment event of the year. Great thanks to Chapter Presidents Richard Hamilton (ROTC), Denise Smith (Nurses), Debra Ealy (Missouri City), Hester Whitaker (Houston) and Claude Whitaker (Class of '69) for participating. NAA brochures were disseminated in the track & field areas while also promoting our upcoming National Alumni Convention attired in the convention tee with Mardi Gras beads!

Fort Worth Alumni held a heavy presence at the Relays.The Jet Relays Soul Festival Weekend is an Annual Track and Field Event which features some of the most talented athletes from some of the nation's top colleges/HBCU's, high schools and middle schools. This event is also featured as a Soul Festival with attractions such as a street carnival, Car and Bike Show, Live Music/Concert, celebrity guests, college fair, health fair, and a variety of vendors and food trucks from all over. Thirteen HBCU's including PVAMU participated in the events.

PV Alumnus MAJ James Johnson, the S3 at the TAMU ROTC addresses PVAMU students at breakfast held after the Ruck March. A Ruck March is a less formal forced foot march.The march was approximately 4 Miles with 50 cadets
participating. A
lumni were allowed to walk alongside the cadets for individual development. The march was held in Hobart Taylor Parking Lot. The continental breakfast was held at 7:30 a.m. in the MSC Ballroom.

The PV Athletic Club could be found volunteering throughout the PV Relays. Chapter members served as host and hostesses, ticket takers, assisted with student sign-ins, lunches, and awards.
