THE TAMPA BAY AREA TO HOST INTERNATIONAL TRANSIT EXPERTS IN MAY  
HART and PSTA will showcase new technology and best practices alongside industry leaders at the 2018 APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference and International Bus Roadeo 
TAMPA, Fla., Thursday, April 19, 2018 - On May 6-9, 2018, the Tampa Bay region will host public transportation industry experts from across the world at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Bus & Paratransit Conference, taking place at the Tampa Marriott Waterside.

The
APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference provides a unique opportunity for transit leaders across the country to come together to share best practices, find solutions, and improve services throughout communities in the US. As the host organizations, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) and Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) will have a leading role, alongside transit industry leaders, public transportation advocates and transit enthusiasts. The multi-day event will focus on operations and maintenance, accessibility and paratransit, integrated mobility and transformative technology, first-and-last mile transportation, safety and security, planning and sustainability, funding and finance, capital programs, procurement, and workforce development. 

Media is invited to attend workshops and main-stage events, as well as a transit vehicle demonstration designed to showcase the latest innovative, environmentally friendly bus and paratransit products and services. The demonstration, taking place on Monday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., provides media the opportunity to obtain videos and conduct interviews with manufacturers' representatives on hand at the event.
 

In addition to all the conference sessions and activities, HART will be hosting a series of technical tours the media is invited to attend designed to educate conference attendees about HART's facilities and learn about the organization's latest, innovative
HyperLINK service.

Bay Spirit II Harbor Tour 
Wednesday, May 9
4 p.m.  
Port Authority of Tampa will lead the 55 minute tour.  

The 2018 International Bus Roadeo will be held on Sunday, May 6 at PSTA from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., to highlight the best of the best bus operators and bus maintenance teams in North America. Local bus roadeo competitions are held in North America to select the competitors in this prestigious event.

Additionally, the finals for the Customer Service Challenge will be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside on Monday, May 7, at 2 p.m. The winners for both the International Bus Roadeo and the Customer Service Challenge will be announced at an awards dinner on Tuesday, May 8, at the Tampa Marriott Waterside from 7 - 9 p.m.
