Dear Friends of Luna,

The Whale is on the move and you can help! After its big city openings this fall, the film is starting to get into theatres all over the US. And if you want to see it in your neighborhood, now's the time to act.

First, take a look at the list of theatres below, and if one of them is near you, please help let people know that it's worth seeing -- email, Facebook, phone calls. People count on their friends and neighbors to help them find out what's good, so it's up to you.

Second, if it's not near you there's one important thing to do: find The Whale a place to play! We explain how to do that below, and how to win a free poster.

We will be sending more letters out in the near future, because we'll want to update the list for you. And finally, we'll soon be ready to let you know about other news, like the date for the DVD release, which will finally be happening in 2012.

We wish you and yours the very best during the holiday season, and a healthy and happy 2012.

Find a theatre!

A very large number of you have written asking to have The Whale shown near you. Thank you! We are already using your requests to help us choose what cities in the US and Canada to focus on. But we seriously need more help.

There's one huge thing you can do: Find a good theatre for the film. That's easier than it sounds. Look in the newspaper or online and find out which theaters near you tend to play independent films. It's usually not the big chains. Then just send us the name and location of the theatre. (Or several if you like.)

That's all. Send an email to suzanne@thewhalemovie.com with the theatre name and a nearby zip code or postal code -- or your own zip or postal code or the state or province and town.

We will then make contact with that theatre and tell the manager that there are people in the neighborhood who want to see The Whale. After that it's up to the theatre and to us to get it there.

If you go to that theatre yourself, you can also help by asking to talk the manager. Tell him or her that you want to see The Whale and that you'll bring people to see it. And if you really want to get busy on this, send us the manager's name and phone number, and get other people to ask for The Whale at the same theatre.

But again, the most important thing is for us to know the name of the theatre that you would like to show The Whale.

And here's a reward: If you're the first person to send us the name of a theatre that does eventually run The Whalewe'll send you a signed movie poster!
