Dear Friends of Luna,
We've got great news! The Whale opens this Friday, September 9, in Seattle and Tacoma. Later this month it opens in New York, Los Angeles, and then in Washington, DC. Our Canadian theatrical run starts in October, and we're working on bringing the film overseas, too.
If you've got friends, family, or colleagues in any of the opening cities, please forward this e-mail to them and ask them to come on out to see the film. If we have good turnouts, we will be able to bring The Whale to more cities everywhere.
Thanks and see you at the movies! Suzanne Chisholm, Mike Parfit, and David Parfit

Toronto, Vancouver and beyond
We're thrilled to be having our Canadian premiere at Toronto's fabulous environmental film festival, Planet in Focus. The Whale is the Closing Night Gala film on October 16 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Reitman Square, and we'll be there for Q&A following the screening. Our Canadian theatrical run will begin shortly after that.
Our Canadian distributor, KinoSmith, is currently booking more Canadian cities, and we'll keep you updated.
For our overseas friends: we are working with our international distributors at PBS International to bring the film to you. We will let you know as soon as we have news of screenings outside North America. |
| Please help spread the word!
Our inbox has been flooded with requests to bring The Whale to hundreds of towns and cities around the world. Thank you! We are working on this.
Here's how you can help bring it to your hometown:
The first weekends: Turnout is critical! If lots of people go to The Whale on those opening weekends in Seattle/ Tacoma, NYC and LA, then theaters in other cities will want the film.
If you live in any of these opening cities, please come on out and see the film, preferably on that first weekend, and tell all your friends about it.
If you don't live in one of these cities, but have and friends, families, or colleagues who live there, please let them know about the film. E-mail them, tweet about it, post it on Facebook, or call them to tell them about The Whale. If you'd like an e-card which can be easily forwarded, write to us at suzanne@thewhalemovie.com and we'll send one to you.
Independent films never have much money for advertising, so we're counting on you to help spread the word. It has to go viral, and that's up to you!
