We understand TSM Model's JPS Lotus / Mario Andretti Signature Series set will arrive in the US soon. The set features 1/43 scale resin replicas of the John Player Special Grand Prix cars driven by Mario Andretti as he returned Colin Chapman's team to the top of the Formula One World Championship standings after the aging Lotus 72 was replaced in the mid 1970s.

In the final race of the 1976 season, Andretti scored a victory in Japan driving the Lotus 77 in very wet conditions. 1977 saw the first appearance of the ground effect Lotus 78. Although he won 4 Grands Prix and led more laps than anyone else, the championship eluded Andretti that year.

It would be a different story in 1978. After scoring one final victory with the Lotus 78, Mario scored 5 wins and clinched the Formula 1 World Championship behind the wheel of Colin Chapman's elegant Lotus 79.

1/43 scale models of all three cars, the JPS Lotus 77, JPS Lotus 78 and JPS Lotus 79 are included in this Limited Edition (999) Presentation mounted along with an individually numbered plaque hand-signed by Mario Andretti. The Sets are priced at $250.00 each. We expect delivery in early to mid September at the very latest.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Jerry Grant over the weekend. Grant was the first driver to turn a 200 mph lap in an Indy Car. He did so in one of Dan Gurney's Eagles at Ontario Motor Speedway in September 1972. He is also remembered as 'almost' winning the 1972 Indianapolis 500 in Gurney's 'Mystery Eagle'. You can read Robin Miller's tribute HERE

I met Jerry Grant a couple times over the years. He was a real gentleman.

Remember, we will be closed this Saturday. See you at Road America!

 - Paul

Please Note:
The photo of the JPS Lotus Set shown above is of the Pre-Production Sample displayed at Toy Fair earlier this year. Photos of the finished Presentation have not been made available to us yet. We are confident the models will be mounted in their correct slots when we receive them - but we'll check anyway!
