Home School Debate Teams Qualify for Nationals Congratulations to the 11 policy debate teams and seven Lincoln Douglas debaters who worked hard all season and are now advancing to represent the region (Texas and Oklahoma) at the National Christian Forensics Communications Association (NCFCA) 2012 National Championship Tournament. We applaud these students for persevering through a rigorous season of competition and committing to the research and practice required to sharpen their thinking and speaking skills to the level worthy of an invitation to the national championship.

We also congratulate and applaud Coach Suzanne Nasser of
dfwspeechdebate.com for her efforts in helping many of these students advance to the national stage. Many of her students say that without Coach Nasser's help and expertise, they would not have achieved the level of success they did this year. Coach Nasser works with students all across the state of Texas during the school year and hosts training camps in North Texas during the summer.

After trying out and failing on three previous occasions, former home school basketball star of the THESA Riders and future UCONN Huskie Moriah Jefferson has been selected to the final 12-player roster of the 2012 USA Basketball U18 National Team! The 12-player team was selected by the USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee.

This is huge news for Moriah and the home school community! It has been absolutely incredible to watch this young woman grow up. Just last year she committed to UCONN after being named the Class of 2012's number one point guard and number two player in the nation.

Last summer a Tarrant County jury reversed the orders of a judge and returned Jim Loose's daughter to him, after she spent almost three years with her grandparents under "temporary" orders. Since last fall Jim's attorneys have attempted to get a two-hour hearing with Judge Randy Catterton, to ask him to require the grandparents to pay Jim's legal fees as allowed under state law.

Raising Men, Not Sluggards

~ Raising Man Cubs Blogspot

As a mother of all boys, I often worry about making sure that I am doing all that I can to help my sons become men. Yes, they are boys now, but I always have to remember that there is a man growing inside each of those little boy bodies. Thankfully, much of their actual "manliness" training falls under my husband's jurisdiction, but I know I also have an important role to play. If nothing else, I owe it to my future daughters-in-law to make sure that I deliver them whole and intact as men of standard, worthy of the titles of "husband" and "father!"
