Geology and the Flood, Part 4
Sedimentology of the Flood
The next GHCA presentation on
April 5
will be Part 4 of our six-month educational series of classroom lectures titled
Geology of the Flood by Geology PhDs.
Part 4
will be Dr. Kurt Wise's lecture, Sedimentology of the Flood. Sedimentology is the specialization within geology of the scientific study of rocks that are laid down by water, air, or other fluids.
That would include nearly all of the rocks laid down during the Genesis Flood as it deluged in five catastrophic continental scale surges. These surges of flooding and deposition produced all of the strata from the Cambrian to the Cretaceous and somewhat more. Dr. Wise will address the physical and geologic processes that could generate and deposit most of the geologic column we see today in approximately the first half of the Flood year.
For those who have missed Parts 1, 2, or 3
and would like to catch up, here are brief summaries and links to the recorded lectures we used. These provide the necessary background support for Dr. Wise's presentation to make good sense in contrast to the uniformitarian or evolutionary assumptions most people bring to the discussion. The series builds a much stronger foundation than any one alone.

Part 1:
Paleontologist Dr. Kurt Wise explained the vast array of evidences for plate tectonics driven continental drift over thousands of miles of Earth's surface conventionally thought to take place over the course of many millions of years. This array of evidence and conventional interpretation orientates the audience to the state of modern geology and gives credit where it is due to the work of thousands of geologists in the present and past. Part 2:
Dr. Wise presents another array of evidence that conventional continental drift cannot explain. Much of this evidence is consistent only with very large scale tectonic events and fast continental motions. mathematical model explaining how plate subduction and continental motion can and must occur very rapidly. The mathematical models and computer simulations of these physical processes show, starting from a Pangea initialization, the continental motions over the whole Earth just as the paleomagnetic data and other evidences indicate. It is also amazingly consistent with modern tomographic observation of current positions subducted plates in Earth's interior. Nearly all of that subduction and continental motion happened within 60 days, not hundreds of millions of years. There still remains one substantial unsolved problem concerning surface heat flow, but so much is right about CPT that CPT or something similar is likely to replace the conventional paradigm in the future. a short time. They assert the standard assumption that clay and silt particles fall though water so extremely slowly that it requires many millions of years to lay down the mudrocks in the geologic column. Dr. Steve Austin points out that this is true only of fine grain particles without the presence of organic matter. In the presence or organic matter these fine grained particles clump together and fall through water much faster. The fossils in the Flood strata demand the presence of a huge amount of organic matter throughout the Flood. Dr. Austin proposes some large-scale research needed to quantify these issues. View Here.

Flood rocks include everything from the Cambrian strata with the first animal life up through the Cretaceous with the last of the dinosaurs.It is amazing how well this body of evidence fits together as a systematic whole indicating extremely fast deposition. Come hear Dr. Wise present the evidence for fast worldwide deposition of the flood rocks and our group discussion.

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences
Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
- Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
- For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record.
- The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
- In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the deep space motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.
