2017 marks  Canada's 150 th  anniversary of Confederation  and to celebrate this generational event the Government of Canada is providing funding to several national, regional and community based projects. These projects are excellent partnering opportunities for our industry to maximize the tourism impact of the sesquicentennial. TIAC worked with the Canada 150 Secretariat to compile this special report for our members and stakeholders to raise awareness of what partnership opportunities exist and how to get involved. As we celebrate our achievements and our heritage in 2017, this is a great opportunity to promote Canada in new ways by highlighting our creativity, our talents and our innovation. The Canada 150 celebrations will help position Canada as an inspiring and exciting place to visit.
 
As we welcome visitors from abroad, we also invite Canadians to discover our vast country during this extraordinary year, when communities come together to celebrate and to launch inspiring and memorable projects.
 
In the coming months, activities highlighting the central themes of youth, diversity, reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, and the environment will be presented to Canadians and visitors from abroad in 2017. The celebration of the 150th anniversary of Confederation begins with a bang with the Canada 150 Kick Off on December 31, 2016.

From St. John's to Victoria, Montreal to Whitehorse, Canadians will celebrate the launch of Canada's 150th anniversary with memorable activities and exciting performances held in 19 major urban centres across the country.

The Celebrate Canada period will be electrifying in 2017! Thousands of provincial, regional and local initiatives will take place across the country over the four days of celebrations. The celebrations will begin with National Aboriginal Day on June 21, followed by la Célébration de la francophonie canadienne on June 24, and Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27. The festivities will peak on Canada Day, July 1st. From coast to coast to coast, Celebrate Canada festivities will offer great opportunities for your business.

All year long, entry to Canada's national parks, national historic sites and marine conservation areas will be free. Visitors can discover the rich heritage and natural treasures for which Canada is renowned. Visitors will be able to listen to stories about Indigenous cultures, learn to camp and paddle, and join in celebrating 100 years of Canada's national historic sites. Adventure, family fun or a short break from the everyday awaits visitors in over 200 incredible locations across the country.

The majority of Canada 150 projects will be listed on the 150 Alliance website, the largest databank of groups, individuals and organisations participating in Canada 150 projects and initiatives.
