Say a prayer for our Military today
National Day of Prayer a time to reflect, support our troops

Today, the first Thursday of May, is the 61st National Day of Prayer.

With tens of thousands of Marines serving in Afghanistan, MarineParents.com encourages people of all faiths to say a prayer today for the safe return of our service members. You can post your prayer to our Facebook page or on the Marine Family Network (MFN).

According to the National Day of Prayer website: "In 1952, a joint resolution by Congress, signed by President Harry S Truman, declared an annual, national day of prayer. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Ronald Reagan, permanently setting the day as the first Thursday of every May. Each year, the president signs a proclamation, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. Last year, all 50 state governors plus the governors of several U.S. territories signed similar proclamations."

Semper Fi, and God Bless.
