Upon completion of this class, participants will be able to:
  • Complete an appropriate pre-job safety inspection
     
  • Understand proper procedure for loading & unloading equipment
     
  • Describe the considerations associated with setting up in different areas and carrying loads
     
  • Understand the specific hazards of working around power lines.
Safety & Operations of a Front-End Loader
A CT Road Master Program ELECTIVE Workshop
This training session covers vehicle and operator safety, vehicle maintenance, daily walk-around inspections and pre and post-shift inspection. 
 
It will provide participants with the information and resources necessary to apply proper safety principles and operating techniques. Equipment operation and pre-job inspections will be demonstrated.  
Who Should Attend  
 
This program is designed for heavy equipment operators and those who have responsibility for the construction and maintenance of local roads.

Equipment Operators, Highway Superintendents, Road Foremen, Crew Leaders and Directors of Public Works are encouraged to attend.
Course Instructor 
 
N. Dee Hadfield has been the Project Manager at the Utah State University LTAP Center for the past 15 years. Dee's background includes 34 years of experience in Public Works with 21 years as a manager of a municipal street department and 13 years as an equipment operator.
