Many people think that the Data Integration Activity is about improving integrations.  While that is a part of it, improved integration is a means to an end.  Once systems are better integrated, there are a number of tools that can be used to improve education.  Come see the dashboards and other exciting ways that this activity is helping to provide timely, actionable data to improve educational outcomes.

EduPaths:  Helping Educators Navigate Their Professional Learning

EduPaths.org is a web-based resource supporting instructional practice, technology integration, and more. It provides connections to in-person, blended, and online pd offerings from statewide partners. Explore EduPaths and learn how one district is using it to boost professional learning and fulfill DPPD requirements for staff.

From Static Text to Digital Next

The Assessment & Curriculum activity has been hard at work completing the set of free digital textbooks for social studies which will be released to districts across the state this fall. They are device neutral, open source, and will cover all of K-12 SS. Come learn about the project, see the progress of the prototypes, and learn how to use it in the classroom! This session will be our first official preview of our HS World History offering.

Transforming Schools in to 1-to-1 Learning Environments

Join an engaging conversation about transforming schools into 1-to-1 learning environments where best practices of 21st century instruction and learning can occur. During this session, aspects of adopting 1:1 technology and review of best practices for (1) a wireless network , (2) classroom technology, (3) mobile devices and (4) professional development for teachers.

Come discover new resources for assessing students understanding of science across three dimensions of the new Michigan Science Standards. Participants will experience several performance tasks at different levels. Learn how performance tasks can be used in Illuminate DnA to easily analyze student learning, drive instruction, and differentiate instruction. Possibilities to get involved include reviewing tasks, writing tasks, or training teachers to write or use tasks.

It's one thing to have a digital Social Studies text, it's another to teach with it. Learn and explore many different ways of teaching with open resources such as the MI Open Book Project. From getting it into your kids hands to "Opening" up the world - and everything in between. This session will be lead by teachers who have been using the MI Open Book Materials and will be a great session for those who want to figure out how to use it in their classes.

Articles below are reprinted from the March 2, 2017 issue of Spotlight on Student Assessment and Accountability 

The M-STEP Test Administration Manual (TAM) is now available on the M-STEP web page (www. michigan.gov/mstep) under the What's New and Current Assessment Administration sections. The manual provides important information for District Test Coordinators, Building Test Coordinators, and Test Administrators who are responsible for both online and paper/pencil M-STEP administrations. All staff involved in the M-STEP administration should read and know the policies, procedures, and guidelines documented in the TAM, to ensure a valid, equitable, and troublefree M-STEP administration.
