FREE One-Hour Webinar for Consumers: Learn the 10 Steps to Buying a Home     

Who: Consumers who are thinking about buying a home in Texas, now or in the future. 

What: TSAHC staff will go over the 10 steps to buying a home, including valuable information about grants for down payment assistance and other programs that can help make your dream of homeownership a reality. Webinar participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

When: Every Wednesday in June, multiple times available.

Where: Log in to the webinar from your desktop or laptop, or download the GoToWebinar app to log in from your tablet or mobile phone.

Why: The home buying process can seem scary, but it doesn't have to be.

2016 Texas Foundations Fund Applications Due Friday, June 3!  

Through the Texas Foundations Fund program, TSAHC partners with nonprofit organizations across Texas to support housing services that meet critical housing needs of very low-income households in Texas.

Beginning with this year's funding round, the Texas Foundations Fund will provide matching grants to selected partners for a specific program.

To qualify as a partner and be eligible for a matching grant, fill out a partner application. They are due no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, June 3, 2016

For more details on the new matching grant structure and other information about the Texas Foundations Fund, we encourage you to read the approved guidelines, and sign up to receive 2016 funding cycle updates.

Great Homes Looking for an Eligible Home Buyer! 

 
TSAHC currently has four Affordable Communities of Texas-Veteran homes remaining in the program's portfolio.

The homes in Killeen and Rockdale are available at a discounted rate of 25%
off the listing price to veterans or first responders who are disabled and/or low-to-moderate income.

The homes in Harlingen and Silsbee are available to any qualified home buyer.
 

TSAHC encourages REALTORS® and housing partners to help us identify qualified home buyers for these wonderful homes!

A recent National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) report revealed that only 31 affordable units exist for every 100 extremely low income households, painting a dire picture for our nation's poorest renters. In Texas, there are 24 affordable units for every 100 such households.

For many people, buying a home can be a better financial option than renting.  In addition to the tax benefits, homeowners tend to have more financial assets due to the long term appreciation of their home. Click here and here to read past blog posts outlining these financial benefits in detail.
