Our NEW 1,200 sq. ft. studio is absolutely fabulous. The 2nd floor location has the feel of a big city studio like those found in NYC.

It is professionally equipped with dance flooring from Harlequin, ballet barres from Vita Vibe, 35 feet of floor to ceiling mirrors from Just Glass, a state of the art sound system and custom box bay window seating.

Dance sneakers are designed for use on our professional dance flooring. They must be worn for each of the designated classes.

They are a dynamic and sporty-looking sneaker, which  features mesh and suede uppers and a split-sole with air cushion.

According to the American Council on Exercise roughly one-third of American adults don't get the minimum amount of exercise recommended -- that's 2 1/2 hours of physical activity every week

 

 Whatever your excuse -- you don't have time, it's not fun, you're too uncoordinated -- it's time to put your reasons aside and make the time for ... dance. Dance?

 

Dance is a great form of exercise. It's appropriate for all ages and all levels of fitness. It's a high-energy cardio workout that exercises the entire body, so it's good for burning calories and helping you lose weight.

 

Let's look at some numbers: A 150-pound person who participates in ballet for 30 minutes will burn about 215 calories. Thirty minutes of a faster, intense dance such as the Contemporary Jazz dances will burn about 200 calories. And slower dancing, such as the waltz, will burn about 100 calories in 30 minutes.

 

Dance is also a good weight-bearing workout because it gets you on your feet and moving. Weight-bearing exercise helps increase your flexibility, muscle mass and bone density, which will in turn help to reduce your risk of bone fractures and of developing thin bones and osteoporosis as you age. It also reduces your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases

.

And if that's not enough, it also helps to elevate your mood, reduce stress, boost your self-esteem and may help to ward off dementia.

    TSDC's New  Adult Dance and Fitness Program begins February 1, 2013 at our NEW STUDIO located across Mantua Avenue in Wenonah. 
A flat rate of $25 per month entitles ALL adults to unlimited classes.
  
     Our fitness and dance classes are a great way to get and keep in shape, as well as being lots of fun.

What is Body Sculpting?
 
Body Sculpting Body Sculpting is a strength training workout that combines flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning using just one set of 5-pound (each) dumbbells. Body Sculpting  is designed to shape and tone the body without building muscular size or bulk.
  
Body Sculpting is highly recommended to those enrolled in a weight loss program because it helps retain lean muscle tissue while boosting metabolism.
Any fitness level can enroll.
  
What is Express Body Sculpt?

  Express Body Sculpt is the same great workout as regular Body Sculpting in a condensed energetic 45 minutes.

Total Body Fitness Uniquely blended class begins with a blast of conditioning designed to strengthen and tone.

What is Adult Ballet?
 
 Adult Ballet Barre & Stretch
Absolute Beginner Ballet Barre & Stretch:
Come and feel the joy of ballet. This class is for the beginner with little or no dance experience who would like to learn and slowly work on the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. In this class everything will be taught at the ballet barre. Class will end with relaxing floor stretches.

 Adult Ballet Classes

Beginner - Intermediate Ballet: 
A great first class for everyone! Learn all you need to know: from stretches right through the first positions and steps of Ballet.   
You will continue to learn new steps and transitions to enable you to dance and express yourselve with excellence. There is a focus on "healthy" technique to create strong/flexible bodies. A very sensible and FUN approach to dance.

Adult Contemporary Jazz  
Contemporary Jazz Dance Class dance utilizes a traditional center warm-up combining jazz and ballet with stretching and strengthening. Combinations can be slow or fast using traditional jazz, contemporary or lyrical styles.

What is the Jazz Funk Dance Class?

 3 Miss Teens 
     Sammy's class puts the "fun" in fundamentals.  If you ever wanted to learn the party dances in Hip-Hop that influenced music videos then this class is for you.  
  
     This is an energetic and dynamic class which uses touches of jazz, cutting edge funk and the technical sharpness of hip hop. You will find your inner groove with precision and emotion which allows the music to drive the movement.

What is Pilates?
 
PilatesPilates...
      Pilates is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. 
  
Core strength...
      Core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercise. The core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. When the core muscles are strong and doing their job, as they are trained to do in Pilates, tPilateshey work in tandem with the more superficial muscles of the trunk to support the spine and movement.

        As you develop your core strength you develop stability throughout your entire torso. This is one of the ways Pilates helps people overcome back pain. As the trunk is properly stabilized, pressure on the back is relieved and the body is able to move freely and efficiently.
