HONORS & RECOGNITION
Cholla HS Early Childhood Education (ECE) students Bryanda Pazos and Abriana Williams are Silver Medal Winners at Nationals!
CHOLLA CHARGERS ROCK NATIONALS!

Cholla HS Early Childhood Education (ECE) students,
Bryanda Pazos and
Abriana Williams, were awarded
SILVER M
edals at the annual Family, Ca
reer and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference and Competitions, held in Atlanta, GA, June 27-July 3, 2018.
The students' earned the opportunity to showcase their ECE project at the national le
vel after they earned First Place at the Arizona FCCLA conference.
This year's FCCLA conference was attended by approximately 7,500 students, plus accompanying teachers/advisors, chaperones and national officers, from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Bryanda and Abriana competed in the "Focus on Childr en" category, and presented the results of Cholla's Kidz Korner childcare strategy that supports the school's stakeholders (parents, teachers, staff) during semi-annual Parent-Teacher conferences and the school's senior class Family Luau Night.
According to principal, Frank Armenta, Kidz Korner has become a "school staple that has helped significantly increase parents' attendance in Parent-Teacher conferences."  According to ECE teacher, Gloria Nelson, "the childcare project is 100-percent student designed, planned and executed."  Additionally, the Kidz Korner initiative provides an added avenue for Cholla's ECE students to engage in state-mandated CTE work-based learning experiences.
Congratulations, Bryanda and Abriana, for earning a score of 89%
at FCCLA Nationals!
CATALINA CONSTRUCTION WORKS!

Construction students spent the summer applying their skills. Under the guidance of Instructor Jack Draper and community partners they refurbished the Construction lab and future Dental Assisting lab at Santa Rita High. Students took responsibilities of Crew Foreman, Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry.
Draper says he hopes the take-away for students is a sense of accomplishment knowing their skills are valued.
