TWIG Bench Named Product-of-the-Year by
Architectural Record Magazine |
TWIG benches, in a design by Andrea Cochran Landscape Architecture |
We were delighted to find out that the TWIG Bench was selected by a jury of architects, interior designers and product specialists as one of Architectural Record's "Products of the Year" for 2012. Not only that, it was named the "top pick" (of five other products) in the furnishings group. This is an extremely prestigious list, and we're proud of the award.
The TWIG has developed into a best-selling bench in Australia and throughout Europe. Now that Tournesol has brought it to the US, there's no reason to think it isn't going to do just as well here. Obviously, the Architectural Record jury agrees!
Shown here at the Anna Head Student Housing project at UC Berkeley, the TWIG is a modular seating system designed to encourage social interaction. We already have several projects installed, with more coming in places ranging from Southern California to South Dakota to Rhode Island. The modern shape is available in both lightweight GFRC concrete as well as illuminated plastic.

VGM Wall at Minneapolis Child Care Center featured in
Living Architecture Monitor magazine |
Enthusiastic helpers excited about the VGM living wall |
The blog must have caught the attention of the Executive Editor of the Living Architecture Monitor, the magazine of the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities organization. She contacted us, and asked us to expand on the information for an article in the upcoming edition of their magazine. The project fit perfectly with the "community" focus of the upcoming edition.
It was a great opportunity for us to check in with Earth Wizards, the contractor that did the work, as well as with the volunteer that coordinated the work for the child care center. We found out about the challenges that accompany even small projects, as well as what it takes to plan a living wall installation in Minneapolis. The plants, as can seen in the image below, have gone dormant for the winter. All are looking forward to learning about the overwintering habits of mostly local plants on a living wall in the harsh climate.
Read the entire article that we researched for the magazine when it appears on our blog soon!
