I awoke AGAIN this morning (PTL for awakening AGAIN!) knowing full well today is MOTHERS DAY. I slept well last night as Amanda only woke me twice-11:30 PM and 4:30 Am. Both times she and I both went right back to sleep and I awoke at the crack of 7:30 AM!!!! My wife slept well as well and soon enough will make the 17 plus mile trek to see her youngest son Joshua. All her remaining children have called and written to express their love and appreciation and she is happy and well pleased on this her day. Her mother now lives with us and gifts have been exchanged and I will order pizza today in celebration.

The first face and first post I saw on FB this morning was the sweet face of our dear friend Melissa B. She posted a pic of her and her dear mother and immediately under that a pic of her two sons. Both her sons were killed in an airplane crash a few years ago and for her and many others, Mothers Day is a sweet and bitter pill. BUT a MOTHER'S LOVE is not and can NEVER be QUENCHED!!! My dear mother is long gone, having passed away nearly 40 years ago, but I STILL REMEMBER HER LOVE for me!!! BECAUSE OF HER I AM!!!! I REMEMBER my MOTHER and her UNFAILING and UNQUENCHABLE LOVE for me her youngest son!!! In HER eyes and HER EYES ALONE, she could find NO FAULT in me!!!!! No matter what I did, no matter what I, HER SON, stood accused of, she was ALWAYS there-IN MY CORNER-to LOUDLY defend me, her "perfect" son. WHY, I could do NO wrong-at least "IN HER EYES!!!!" She "believed" every lie I told her-I think????? I REMEMBERED the night I came home intoxicated and smelling of alcohol-(close your eyes holy ones)!!! I told her some "MEAN BOYS" at the dance had spilled THEIR drink on me and I REMEMBER-SHE BELIEVED ME!!! I could and DID get in much trouble at school and there she was ALWAYS-taking up my defense. Just the mere thought of hurting her prevented me and though I DID sin, in the back of my mind stood her UNQUENCHABLE love and DEFENSE of me, HER son!! I think of my SECOND mother also-Lelia Williams-in who's home I was BORN AGAIN!!! I tried to take her out to eat for Mother's day last Friday but a fiery crash of a small plane on I-285 prevented my getting there. But she as well as my MAMA know I love them!! My earthly mother in Heaven reads these, my sermons, as does my spiritual mom Lelia! TODAY, as you celebrate MOTHERS DAY, let God "TAKE YOU BACK DEAR LORD TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU FIRST RECEIVED HIM."
