Helping Needy Families Have A Brighter Future
Summer is finally here! What we used to consider our "slow" time of year no longer rings true —w e are as busy as if it were December! Let’s take a closer look…
Garage Sales
The first of our two huge charity garage sales will be Friday and Saturday June 15 th & 16 th !

The HGH garage season is in full swing! We held our first two Friends and Family Garage Sales April 19 th & May 17 th . To prepare for the sales, Brad and his team have been out nearly every day to pick up donated items and work in the warehouse. Meanwhile, Sandy and the Garage Sale Gang have been working incredibly hard to sort, place & price thousands of items. We are so thankful for our volunteers that make a sale of this scale possible!
In 2017 our garage sales raised $58,138, so they are a vital part of HGH's fundraising efforts. Please call Murray (209-7027) or Brad (693-6664) if you have items to donate.

Our 2018 schedule of sales:
  • Friday & Saturday, June 15th & 16th, 8:00am – 4:00 pm
  • Friends & Families sales – July 19th , 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Friday & Saturday, September 14th & 15th, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Important Garage Sale Notes
1)    From June 1 st through Labor Day, we will only pick-up donated items Monday through Thursday. Our warehouse will be closed Fridays.

2)    We sincerely appreciate any and all donation offers but we can no longer pick up box TV’s, commercial office desks, entertainment cabinets, sinks, toilets or armoires. They just won’t sell. We can’t even give these items away! We appreciate your understanding.

3)     When you call for a pickup please be specific about your donations. And please know we are not professional movers. Sometimes large items may be too difficult for our team to move. We can arrange, if necessary, with our partners at Two Men and a Truck, a charitable rate to move these tricky items out of your home or office and to the Help Give Hope warehouse.
The Longest Table
Thursday, April 19 th was our second annual fundraiser, The Longest Table .  What started out as an idea none of us was sure would work, has turned into an annual event that continues to grow. Moving to a larger venue, Gray Rocks, was the perfect setting to a perfect evening.

Metropolitan Grill and Avanzare returned again this year as our anchor restaurants and were joined by Touch/Flame/Black Sheep and 319 Events. Gray Rocks featured a beautiful open kitchen design that offered a fun way to observe the creation of amazing food and adult beverages that were paired with each course. The tables were enhanced with exquisite arrangements by The Nest that offered the pleasant smells of spring, and music by Isabel Crane provided flawless entertainment for the 120 guests that dined in celebration of Help Give Hope!

A special thanks to all our sponsors who gave generously to this event and to the committee who worked countless hours on raising sponsorships and organizing the wonderful evening.

The best part Help Give Hope raised $46,000!
Your Votes Count!
Thank you to everyone who voted for the Lucky’s Market Springfield Bags for Change! We were one of the top three charities voted to partner with Lucky’s for the next quarter.

Here’s how it works:
May 27 th - August 18 th guests who bring in reusable bags during their shopping are given a wooden dime (their bag credit). They can then choose to donate this dime to one of our three partner organizations. What’s more, Lucky’s Market will match each donation!

This is a great opportunity for us.  So remember: Shop Lucky’s, bring your reusable bags and donate to Help Give Hope!
Great Time on the Links!
Arris Pizza/Paul Zurfluh Memorial Golf Tournament
The 20 th Annual Arris Pizza/Paul Zurfluh Memorial Golf Tournament is in the record books!

We do not take your participation for granted and are humbled you chose to play this year! Please mark your calendars now for Monday, May 6 th , 2019 for the 21st Annual tournament!
We could not have ordered more perfect weather and, as always, we had the best group of participants of any tournament in Southwest Missouri. It may not be the quickest 18 holes of golf you’ll play this year, but we hope the purpose behind the tournament coupled with the great fun and fellowship make it a day worth taking off work!

Celebrating 20 Years

It's hard to believe it was 20 years ago that a few friends of Help Give Hope convinced hard-headed Wade to hold a charity golf tournament. The first tourney was played at Hidden Valley Golf Links in Clever, MO., in October of 1999. Jim Crumpley, Mike Goodwin and a host of other friends and supporters of HGH literally did all the work and threw it together in a matter of several weeks! The next year, we moved the tournament to April and at Millwood Country Club. The following year, and ever since, the tournament has been played at Twin Oaks Country Club and always on the first Monday of May.
Several years after moving the tournament to Twin Oaks, Joe Kremer (a HGH supporter from day one), Tani Kremer and Gary Whorton, owners of Arris Pizza, volunteered to be the event sponsor and host the outstanding post-party. That tradition has continued with Arris’ new owners Brenda & Jeff Spies. It’s no easy feat to feed 200 hungry golfers as well as family & friends! The event has morphed more into a celebration of our supporters than a fundraiser, and we have had a sell-out tournament EVERY YEAR! This year we were completely full in four hours ! That is called support and loyalty! We often wonder who has played in all 20 tournaments (we didn’t keep great records in the beginning)? Let us know if you have!
All proceeds from the event will fund the Rick Richardson Scholarship Fund. Here’s to another 20 years!

Arris Pizza

What’s a successful golf tournament without a great post-party to celebrate the fun, provide a venue for the golfers to lie about how well they played, or to cry in their drinks about how “we just couldn’t make a putt!”? Joe & Tani Kremer and Gary Whorton, owners of Arris Pizza, stepped to the plate roughly 15 years ago by offering to be the event sponsor for the Help Give Hope Charity Golf Tournament. This includes hosting a post-party that feeds 150-200 hungry golfers (and their friends & family)! The amazing post-party turns a fun day into a great day. Two years ago Brenda & Jeff Spies purchased Arris Pizza and could easily have decided not to continues the relationship but it has been just the opposite the tradition of the post-party continues, plus both have become increasingly important members of the Help Give Hope family. They help us year-round whether during our major Christmas project, garage sales, The Longest Table, golf and so much more!

ABOUT

Arris Pizza is located at 1332 East Republic Road in Springfield and serves Greek pizzas & entrees plus Italian pastas. Not only is the food outstanding but the service is world-class and the atmosphere casual and friendly. You always see someone you know! It often feels like you’ve walked onto the set of Cheers (for those who remember that show). It has become one of the most successful restaurants in Springfield because of word-of-mouth…what does that tell you?

Thank you Jeff, Brenda, and Arris Pizza!
