Climate Change Adaptation Task Force and Health Impact Assessment Progress

The Climate Change Adaption Task Force (CCATF), lead by Region Nine,  has spent the past year  developing region specific climate change adaptation strategies. Through this process, Region Nine felt it was important to focus not only on the area's infrastructure
adaptability, but also on the health and well-being of the affected residents. To accomplish this, Region Nine was awarded a grant from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to conduct a Heath Impact Assesment on the adaptation strategies developed by CCATF. The Region Nine HIA Committee and MDH will analyze each adaptation strategy to determine any negative or positive environmental and health-related impacts on the region.
"We are currently determining which health effects will be evaluated. The next step is to conduct an assessment of the affected populations, including research and data analysis," said Jacob Thunander, Region Nine Project Development Planner.
