CUNY Callouts

Abi Ishola-Ayodeji, Newmark J-School ’08, is an Emmy award-winning journalist who recently penned “Patience is a Subtle Thief,” a coming-of-age story about young Nigerians striving to realize their dreams. The novel was dubbed one of the best books of May 2022 by BuzzFeed. Abi has produced stories and documentaries for platforms including PBS and CUNY TV. She hopes her work will inspire students to share the stories of underserved people through their own community service.

Abi’s advice: “Be flexible in your professional pursuits. We are all naturally multifaceted people with so much to offer the world when we keep an open mind, use our life experiences as inspiration and sharpen our focus on what we deem important.”
