Tallahassee Music Week is a nine-day celebration of music diversity and the Capital City's rich musical talent. From a virtuoso string quartet in a coffee shop, to a jazz ensemble performing at an open air concert downtown, to a high school student piano recital in a grocery store, Tallahassee Music Week will feature more than 100 performances by local artists in more than 50 locations throughout Tallahassee. Most events are free and open to the public.

Experience true Southern hospitality with one of the largest and most celebrated festivals in the southeast. The two day event kicks off with a Music Festival on Kleman Plaza featuring national entertainment acts on Friday night. Saturday begins with our Grand Parade featuring over 100 entries followed by the famous Jubilee in the Park featuring hand crafted items, Children's Park, and local entertainment stages in Downtown Tallahassee. It's no wonder this "little" event has grown to attract over 200,000 attendees.

The Odd Couple

This classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assembled for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean-freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born.

Nature's Fate: It's in Our Hands opens this spring in the Phipps Gallery. Nature's Fate explores wildlife conservation, and how our choices impact nature's future. Participate in the exhibit by sharing your opinions on fracking and other current issues! The exhibit includes hands-on activities and a listening station of frog calls. On weekends, discover more about wildlife at the Exploration Station on the gallery deck.

Carlisle Floyd's "Prince of Players"

Based on the stage play Compleat Female Stage Beauty by Jeffrey Hatcher, Prince of Players is the tale of Restoration-era actor Edward Kynaston, heralded as the greatest portrayer of female characters in a time when only men were permitted onstage. King Charles II, in an effort to please his favored mistress, actress Nell Gwynn, decrees that only women shall play female characters on the stage. Kynaston, who has only ever played female roles, must rediscover his talent if he has any hope of continuing a life on the stage. With the assistance of his dresser turned actress, Margaret Hughes, he struggles to recast his identity as an actor.

Living in an insular farming community, Sal Damon, a modern-day Thoreau, seeks solace from a past relationship in Appalachia. After his neighbor dies and he discovers a feral child living on the lam, he must reconcile his place in a world that lives outside of the law.

Bach and Beyond - String Academy Benefit Concert

Tallahassee Bach Parley at St. John's Episcopal Church
The Tallahassee Bach Parley will perform a special benefit concert, "Bach and Beyond," with all donations going toward Bach Parley String Academy student scholarships. The faculty of the String Academy, Valerie Arsenault, Carrie Holden, Miriam Barfield, and Zlatina Staykova, will present a wide range of 18th through 21st century music, including some Irish fiddling. The program has music of Bach as arranged by Mozart, a lively trio by Dvořák, "Lullaby and Grotesque" by Rebecca Clarke (a 20th century British composer), Sinfonia No. 2 in D major by Mendelsssohn, and jigs from the "Irish Session Suite" by Kevin Burke and Cal Scott.
