September is Attendance Awareness Month
Click here for an important message from our Child Welfare and Attendance Specialists about how we can team up to fight chronic absenteeism and support student success. It's a team effort!

Message #1:  SHOW UP!
School is your student’s first and most important job at this stage of his/her life. They are learning not just about science, math and reading, but also how to show up for school on time every day. This skill will help when your children graduate and get a job by developing a habit that will also allow them to be on time for work every day.

Message #2:  ATTEND TODAY, ACHIEVE TOMORROW!
A student who misses 10 days or more during a school year is 20 percent less likely to graduate from High School and 25 percent less likely to ever enroll in college.

If you need help getting to school or you have other questions and concerns regarding attendance, please contact Foothill's Child Welfare and Attendance Specialist (CWA) Kelly Mills at (925) 461-6634 [email protected]
Attendance DOs & DON'Ts

Here a few important reminders from the Foothill Attendance Office:

DO CALL AHEAD whenever possible if your student is to leave school early. This way, a pass can be generated for her/him to pick up during passing period or lunch time.

The Attendance Line is 925-461-6686

DON'T WRITE A NOTE because staff still has to try and reach you by phone anyway. The best thing to do is phone ahead.

DON'T JUST SHOW UP because you could be in for a long wait as passes can't be delivered, and classes can't be disturbed with phone calls to inform students about a pass or to call them out. It's better to (you guessed it) call ahead.

The Attendance Office thanks you for your cooperation.
You can find more Attendance information on the Foothill website under Parents > Attendance.
Announcing the P-Town Bowl Car Giveaway!
Enter for your chance to win a new Chevy Cruze while supporting Foothill at the same time! Read all about this exciting new program by clicking here . Tickets available for purchase from FAB and Band Boosters.
Traffic & Parking Lot Reminders
As we have adjusted to our new bell schedule, it takes some time for the flow of traffic to settle in. It is a challenge when we have a couple roads in and over 2,100 students coming and going every day. Please review the information about pick-up and drop-off procedures. We always ask that everyone be aware of students walking or on bikes and to take caution when driving near campus.

PTSA Association Meeting September 19
The Foothill PTSA looks forward to seeing everyone at the first Association Meeting of the year on September 19th at 7 pm , in the Foothill Library .
On the agenda:
  • Approval of Budget and Programs for 2018-19
  • Adoption of Audit for the period ending June 31, 2018
All are welcome to attend, but only PTSA members may vote.
Click here  for a list of scheduled PTSA Association Meeting dates for 2018-19.
Principal's Friday Forum on September 21
Come one, come all for the first Principal's Friday Forum of this school year on Friday, September 21 at 9 a.m. in room C-6 (date changed from Sept 14). Hear first-hand from Principal Bull about goings-on at Foothill. These informal meetings are a great way to ask questions or address concerns regarding the school. Please limit discussions to broad school topics and not specific issues with your student. Light refreshments provided by the PTSA.
Calling All Talented Decorators
PPIE's Fall Gala promises to be a spectacular evening yet again, and the organization seeks talented table decorators to enhance the experience while raising funds for PUSD programs.

The committee is working with PPIE and each school site to collect donated centerpieces for display on each table at the PPIE Gala on Friday, October 12th.  This year's theme is Harvest Moon. Ideally, donors use the theme and creatively incorporate it into their centerpieces, which will then be used as prizes for a game that attendees can participate in (raising funds for PPIE to use to enhance our school staffing). We would like one to two centerpieces per school to create a beautiful dining room full of different interpretations of the theme.

For more information, details or questions, please email Tasha Buser via the PTSA at [email protected]

A Heads-Up for Seniors from the Counseling Department!
Counselors will be meeting with all seniors to discuss post-high school plans, and will be reviewing the college application process through the end of October.

Every senior who plans to apply directly to a four-year college will receive a packet of information detailing everything you need to know about the college application process. In order to best prepare for these meetings, start making a list of colleges you want to apply to and feel free to come with questions for your counselors. Parents, please review these packets with your students. This is a very exciting time for our seniors!

If you are planning to go to community college or a trade school or maybe have a unique plan to you, please let your counselor know. We will check in with you briefly now, and more detailed information regarding community college applications will come to your student in January.

Counselors will be off campus on September 19 th  for the CSU conference, and September 27 th  for the FAFSA conference. We are looking forward to receiving up to date information to share with all of you!
