It's Make a Difference Day this Saturday, October 25th!

The spirit behind the nation's largest day of service is to set aside time to improve the lives of others.

At Tangled Purls, we hope to make a difference by sponsoring a food drive for Marion-Polk Food Share. Right now a record-high average of more than 9,000 families a month are turning to the member food pantries for a food box. Food donations mean that a hungry child and family will be eating, simply because you chose to give.

Please help us help these families by donating canned goods and non-perishable food items at Tangled Purls. Let's Make a Difference this Saturday. Thank you!

Also needed are baby items - food, formula, diapers, wipes, ointment, etc.

If you have a wheel, bring that, but if not, you can practice on my Louet S10. Fiber will be provided, but feel free to bring anything you are interested in spinning. Call the shop for contact info.

Art Yarn Spinning: $35 an hour (supplies included)

-This session will cover a variety of art yarn spinning techniques depending on what you want to learn. We can go over things like tailspinning, sluggy plying, add-ins, twists, Navajo plying, super thick and thin, and anything you have an interest in learning. I'll show you how to create a textured batt on a drum carder and also how to spin a textured yarn without using a drum carder. I will have some different fibers to use for this class, but feel free to bring any fibers you're interested in incorporating into your yarns. If you have a wheel, bring that, but if not, you can use my Louet S10. Call the shop for contact info.

Freeform Crochet Headband: $30 an hour (supplies not included)

-This session will show you how to use all those small balls of yarn and textured yarns you just don't know what to do with. With freeform crochet you can combine them and create a great, unique, wearable piece. I'll show you how to create texture, organic shaping, holes, and ruffles. We'll create a headband, which is a great start to eventually going larger, like a scarf. You must already know how to crochet, just basic chain stitch is fine. Bring Any yarns you want to create a headband with. A worsted to bulky yarn is great, but you can also bring any textured yarns you want to use. Also bring a few crochet hooks from H-K if possible. I will have some hooks to use as well. Call the shop for contact info.
