Dear Friends,

April showers bring May flowers! The shop has been bustling with activity and a fun sense of community! From our drop-in knitters to our Spring Shawl knitalong, we love seeing people come together, inspiring each other and creating beautiful projects and inspiring each other. It is exciting to see the unique color combinations and patterns that have been chosen and to watch as they are created.

Be sure to check our facebook page and our website for plenty of new pictures from the shop to inspire you, as we kick off our "April Showers" theme. New yarns will be arriving in the shop including cotton blends, colorful new samples, and inspiring ideas. New items will be added to our sale corner, as well. Take a moment to stop by and pick up a fresh spring project!

The samples for all of our upcoming classes are now on display and class selections are posted below. Some classes fill quickly, so hurry in to sign up! Also, remember, Tangled Purls is now participating in the Ravelry InStore Pattern Sales program to sell patterns you see on Ravelry.

Thank you to all of our wonderful customers for supporting your local yarn shop. You are appreciated!spring-raingear.jpg

This class is to help students finish up projects they have started in my other classes, but didn't quite get finished - got stuck on a technique, got sick, got distracted by new yarn, had a deadline project come up. Whatever the reason, come and get the help you need to finish your project at one or both of these sessions.

Class Dates: May 3rd and 17th, 2014

Class Time: 11:00-1:00 pm

Private Lessons with Heather Lightbody  (Girl with a Hook):

 heather's yarn

Spinning yarn on a spinning wheel: $30 an hour (supplies included)

-We'll learn how to make a basic yarn on a spinning wheel using different forms of wool, such as wool top and loose wool fleece. We'll go over thread plying and 2 strand yarn plying as well. If you have a wheel, bring that, but if not, you can practice on my Louet S10. Fiber will be provided, but feel free to bring anything you are interested in spinning.  Call the shop for contact info.

Art Yarn Spinning: $35 an hour (supplies included)

-This session will cover a variety of art yarn spinning techniques depending on what you want to learn. We can go over things like tailspinning, sluggy plying, add-ins, twists, Navajo plying, super thick and thin, and anything you have an interest in learning. I'll show you how to create a textured batt on a drum carder and also how to spin a textured yarn without using a drum carder. I will have some different fibers to use for this class, but feel free to bring any fibers you're interested in incorporating into your yarns. If you have a wheel, bring that, but if not, you can use my Louet S10. Call the shop for contact info.

Freeform Crochet Headband: $30 an hour (supplies not included)

-This session will show you how to use all those small balls of yarn and textured yarns you just don't know what to do with. With freeform crochet you can combine them and create a great, unique, wearable piece. I'll show you how to create texture, organic shaping, holes, and ruffles. We'll create a headband, which is a great start to eventually going larger, like a scarf. You must already know how to crochet, just basic chain stitch is fine. Bring Any yarns you want to create a headband with. A worsted to bulky yarn is great, but you can also bring any textured yarns you want to use. Also bring a few crochet hooks from H-K if possible. I will have some hooks to use as well. Call the shop for contact info.
