Get a sneak peak at Kyoto Yakitori
Birmingham's newest Japanese restaurant, Kyoto Yakitori, won't be opening until later this year, but at Pro Hops Vino! you will be able to taste some of their delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine! Before the rest of the city, you'll be able to taste the restaurant's signature yakitori, a Japanese style of skewered meat and vegetables.
Rick Newton, the restaurant's owner and an employment law attorney, said that in every way he has tried to make Kyoto Yakitori as authentic as possible. "As much as possible, I want to take a restaurant in Japan, and I want to pick it up and put it down here," he explained. Newton first became hooked on yakitori while living in Japan as an exchange student during his undergraduate studies in Alabama. After graduating and earning a law license, he continued to return to Japan, becoming more and more convinced that Birmingham could benefit from a restaurant that offered yakitori.

"Living in Japan a couple of times and going back and forth several dozen times over the years, I ate this food and saw these types of restaurants and I believed in my bones that this would be a winner if we could ever get it over to the US," he said.
Newton added that he wanted those who taste his yakitori to experience the same flavor that he enjoyed in his travels in Japan. Get your tickets now for Pro Hops Vino! to experience the authentic flavor of Japan right here in Birmingham.
