Taste of Julian
A Rural Dining Adventure
4th Annual Event Shows That There's More to Julian Than Apples

Greetings!

Julian kicks off a "tasty" month in San Diego with its fourth annual Taste of Julian on Saturday, April 14th from 1pm to 5pm. This year, over 16 restaurants and wineries will be participating in this self-guided culinary tour of the historic mountain town's unique restaurants. Other upcoming "Tastes" this month include Hillcrest, Shelter Island and Temecula Valley.

The Taste of Julian will offer participants the opportunity to sample local specialties such as appetizers, entrees, and desserts from more than 16 of the finest establishments in Julian. In between delicious culinary creations and selections from local wineries and breweries, this year participants will enjoy an Art Walk featuring original artwork by talented, local and regional artists in conjunction with the Julian Art Guild. The artists will be demonstrating their skills and work at each participating restaurant/winery and include woodcarving, quilting, photography, jewelry, weaving, and paintings. Tickets are limited, cost $20 per person and are now available at Town Hall and online at www.julianmerchants.org through Paypal. There will be a limited number of tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis for $25 at Town Hall the day of the event.

"Your ticket is your passport to come up to Julian and sample menu specialties from some of our popular locations," explains Tracy Turner, president of the Julian Merchants Association which is sponsoring the event. "Although you'll be able to sample our famous apple pie, you'll see that there's a lot more in Julian to whet your appetite."

Participants will pick up colored wristbands to easily identify them along with a map of participating restaurants upon check-in at Town Hall on April 14th. The self-guided tour allows participants to visit participating restaurants at their own pace, in any order they choose within the specified time frame, and enjoy the unique atmosphere each restaurant has to offer. While you're sampling the local cuisine, be sure to learn more about Julian's rich history, browse through its charming shops, and enjoy its old fashioned atmosphere.

Taste of Julian is a fundraiser to benefit the Julian Merchants Association, a non-profit association. Proceeds enhance and protect this historic district. Other upcoming special events include the Heritage Quilt Show, Gold Rush Days, the 4th of July parade, Starfest, Apple Days, Old Time Melodrama, Holiday Home Tour, and Country Christmas.
