Description:

In order to counter problems that we were facing in different areas of energy and conservation, Congress passed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 that created a tax incentive relating to the design and installation of energy efficient interior lighting, HVAC,  or building envelope systems in commercial and government buildings.  Section 179D of the code allows for immediate deduction for energy-efficient property up to a maximum of $1.80 per square foot.  And this deduction can pass on to the architect or designer of the energy-efficient property for government buildings!  Learn how to put this tax incentive to work for you!

Learning Objectives:

After this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Calculate the tax savings available to you
  • Explain why the IRS Tax Code as it pertains to Section 179D matters to your project
  • List 1-2 opportunities available to you and your clients
  • Identify several other tax savings ideas and opportunities
